August 10, 201015 yr Please post the output of the following command: ethtool eth0 What specific make/model router/switch are you using? It seems you listed three network cards. Which one are you using? ONBOARD ATHEROS AR8131 PCI-ETHERNET CONTROLLER SITECOM PCI NETWORK CARD 1GB INTEL PCI NETWORK CARD 1GB Are you using a wireless link? What type of network card is on the PC you are copying from? Are you using cat5e cables? or cat6 cables? Did you make your own cables? or are they factory made? Joe L.

August 10, 201015 yr 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Full Supports auto-megotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: not reported advertised auto-negotiation: yes speed: 100mb/s duples:full port twisted pair Ther's the reason for 11MB/s. Your LAN chipset negotiated a 100MB/s rate. 11 MB/s is a very normal rate for that LAN speed. You have either: 1. - A bad cable. If the cable pairs are not twisted all the way into the connectors you'll not get proper operation. If one wire of a pair is not connected, you'll not get proper operation. If you do not wire all 4 pairs, you'll not get proper operation. (100Mb/s only used 2 of the pairs. 1000Mb/s uses all 4) 2. - A cable wired improperly. (There are two standards for wiring, one for telephone use, the other for LAN use, they use the pairs differently. On my personal RJ-45 Crimper, the telephone standard is on the lid of the case, the LAN standard is not mentioned. If you use the wrong standard, you'll get very poor performance) 3. - The cable is connected to a router or switch that is 100Mb/s only. (You did not answer which make/model router/switch you are using) 4. - The PC (or router) is set to use 100Mb/s and not to auto-negotiate. 5. The router/switch is only capable of 100Mb/s. Joe L.
