August 13, 201015 yr I've just recently taken delivery of a media player (it's an HDI Dune Base 3.0) and I'm trying set up nfs sharing between that and my UNraid server. Currently, the "Dune" won't connect via nfs but will using SMB. It could be a oproblem with the Dune but I just wanted to clarify that I've done everything correctly with the Unraid server. So, next to Disk shares (NFS) I've added "*(rw)" and added the same next to all the User shares next to "Export NFS", and I've clicked "Apply". Is there anything else I need to do? Finally, the "Dune" asks if the nfs share protocol UDP or TCP. I've tried both and neither work at the moment but what should the setting be?
August 13, 201015 yr Author Resolved, Found the answer here.. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=7091.30 Thanks
August 14, 201015 yr I think you ill find that the Dune will operate better (faster) with the Samba interface. Also less hassles all around IMHO
August 14, 201015 yr Author Yes, I've just found that out too. The reason I was playing around with nfs is that I had read that I would need to use this in the future when I start streaming full 1080p blu rays. Are you able to confirm if the Dune will handle "uncompressed" blu rays via Samba?
August 14, 201015 yr Yes, I have no issues with any Blu Rays I have ripped. I rip them to Blu ray format eliminating all material except the main movie and the primary english sound track with the higheest level audio on the disk. The dune plays back DTS HD true HD and all the other alphabet soup with no issues. I have also ripped to matroska containers (.mkv) with no issues.
August 15, 201015 yr Author That's excellent news. So I'll ignore all the other crap about having to use nfs for streaming bds and stick with SMB. Thanks very much for your help.
