kenzo Posted June 28, 2018 Share Posted June 28, 2018 Hey guys, I have configured UNRAID to run 2 VM's on a single computer, for my first time it seems I have gotten everything right, except for one thing. I cannot install the GTX 970 driver on the VM, i have installed all the other ones except that one. I have downloaded the driver from the NVIDIA website, when i go to install it it says that it cannot find a compatible GPU. In device manager under display adapters it just says Standard VGA adapter. System specs are as follows: Ryzen 1800x 8 core CPU 32GB ram 2 x GTX 970 (SLI bridge not connected) 2x 500GB HDD Motherboard: Asrock Fatal1ty X370 K4 OS: WINDOWS 7 SP1 The XML file: <domain type='kvm' SSD Posted June 28, 2018 Share Posted June 28, 2018 Have you passed through one of the video cards and specified a ROM file? Find gridrunner's 2 part guide on setting up a VM - first part is setting up non-passthrough, and second part is on making the VM passed through. The first part is an absolutely brilliant guide for installing Windows 10 (VM or otherwise), installing apps, and turning off spying. If you are able to reinstall, I'd strongly recommend if you didn't already use that guide, or at least watch the guide for tips and tweaks to your existing install. The second part is called setting up for gaming, but is excellent on anyone wanting to pass through video / usb. He also has another video on passing through USB which is more complete than the second video I mentioned above. Definitely recommend you use passthrough for keyboard / mouse (e.g. Logitech unifying dongle) if you are planning to use this vm regularly. Setting up the keyboard without passthrough is subject to laggy / unsmooth mouse performance, dropping offline in the middle of a session, and does not support unplugging and replugging (a bit more important for a USB port you plan to use with thumbdrives, but it you are using a KVM to switch mouse/keyboard among computers, it is required). The passed through method is smooth as butter with the mouse, indistinguishable from a non-VM windows install. 1 Quote Link to comment
