April 24, 20197 yr long story short, I have a VM running ubuntu server. When set up, I gave it 200gb. Knew it was overkill at the time, but didn't consider it was going to take up a 5th of my cache drive. So I decided to resize it. Now the VM wont boot. I Followed SapceInvader's guide. To resize the ubuntu partition, I spun up an ubuntu desktop and assigned the vdisk to it as a second disk. Used gparted to shrink the partition down to 32gb (only 21-22gb were actually used, so I assumed 32 would be plenty, with the idea of adding a second vdisk for additional space needs that was array storage rather than cahce) After the partition resize I used a terminal window to enter the commands shown in the video to resize the vdisk. (making sure to leave a 'buffer' as suggested in the video) Looking back I do remember seeing it spit out something that seemed possibly concerning, but I was really tired and didn't pay attention to what it said *facepalm* When I boot the VM now, this is what I get. after seeing that I stopped the server, and booted up the ubuntu desktop with the vdisk in question assigned again, and found that there seems to be no partition on the vdisk. So am I totally fucked? Or is this recoverable? The most recent full image backup I have is from february. Not the absolute end of the world, but I know there will be some data loss if that's my only option. Hoping for a miracle here. Thanks in advance for any help. The community here is great and I appreciate all the help you guys offer when I run into an issue.
