Array dropping offline

Featured Replies

Hi all.  I'm having a problem with the server dropping offline.  It's happened twice.  The first time was 3 days ago when I was attempting to back up my music folder from the server to an external drive on my Mac using a program called "SyncTwoFolders", a freeware mac program.  The program has you select a source and a target.  I selected my music folder as the source and the external hard drive as the target and then it froze and dropped the connection.  I think my mistake was that I should have had an identically named folder as my target and that crashed the program.

But it totally froze the server as well.  I couldn't even get back on through telnet.  I had to do a hard shutdown.  I started it up again and it reported one error and started a parity check.  It predicted it would take over 10 hours, but it was finished within the hour.  I haven't seen that happen before.  It reported no errors and all seemed fine.

Then this morning I accessed the server for the first time since the crash and attempted to pull some video off an iso image on the server using a program called "DVDRemaster Pro".  I mounted the iso image and chose the Video_TS folder as the source and once again the array dropped offline and froze.  I had to do a hard shutdown again.

Now it's running another parity check, this time it hasn't reported any errors on startup.  I'm including the syslogs from each startup.  I noticed some unusual lines in the first syslog:
