RobJ
The new Western Digital 750GB SATA II drive is $200 (with free shipping) at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136131. There are many who believe that Seagate has a better reputation than Western Digital, but this drive is reviewing extremely well, with some saying it transfers data faster than 10,000RPM Raptors. There is no maintenance history yet, of course. For Newegg Newsletter Subscribers, there is a promo on now for $190 (with free shipping) for one drive only (http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/July-0-2007/Promo073107in/index-landing.html?cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL073107-_-Moredeals-_-top-_-Moredeals&CMP=EMC-IGNEFL073107&ATT=Moredeals). Seagate 750GB is at $210 (with free shipping) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148134. It looks like these 750GB's are finally dropping into the high end of the sweet spot of the hard drive buying curve. (My sympathies to those without access to Newegg or comparable.)
