Preclear help

Featured Replies

Hello-

Am trying to preclear a few drives prior to loading them on unRAID. Using a Dell Optiplex GX270 and it boots into unRAID. However, I have the drives I want to clear attached through the USB as well. They are not being seen from http://tower. Additionally, when I try to run the clear commands under Tower it asks for a Password.

Any ideas? Thanks all!

You must log in via telnet, or on the system console first, before invoking the preclear script.  From your description, you've not logged in.

Once you do log in you should see all the attached disks by typing

ls -l /dev/disk/by-id

Thanks for the fast response. The computer has been finicky with each reboot - but I am going lo-n-slo now (a 2TB @ 32.8 MB/s). Also, in my haste/frustration/"enjoyment" I forgot "root".
