Situation & Use Case

Im 39, lived around computers all my life as my father owned a software company growing up and my skill set is advanced but only really in fixing and building systems and basic Microsoft/Oracle VM networking and completely forgotten CCNA cert from 8 years ago from a Cert IV in Networking. So treat me as a beginner but who will follow instruction simply and ask clear questions if I don't understand jargon.

This is my only Rig, My 2 sons who come over on weekends have their own PC a simple i5 6600 12gb 2133mhz ram and a R9 390 strix so that's set. However I wish to be able to split my system up into 2 games machines when they come over and back to default when they are at their mums.

Q1. I saw the linus vid years ago and I know unraid can achieve the task however will it be as simple as

1. Plugging in the unraid usb into the motherboard, changing the primary boot to usb and going from there (once all configured ofcourse) and then when they go home

2. Changing the primary boot drive back to my m.2 with my OS on it and removing the unraid usb from the motherboard usb socket

My goal is once this is set up and running it is as simple as possible to switch between the stock and VM config.

Q2. Will I be able to use my OS image on my boot drive and have it perform much like it does now and have my son's OS image on the Crucial SSD with their games and such or will I have to create a secondary Image or clone image from my current system so I then use that on the weekends and my primary OS / storage during the week?

Q3. I would like to just assign USB connections to one another for our keyboards and mice, I have a NZXT USB internal hub connected to one of the usb 2 ports on the motherboard so If I could do it that way then that would be good or do I need some extra hardware.

Q4. How should I divide the CPU or do I need to at all?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. I apologise if my questions are basic but I figured it best to ask if it is possible to keep the system swapping simple before beating my head against configuring it.
