December 9, 201015 yr Wasn't sure where to put this... I'm running 4.6, which doesn't matter much, since it's basically a hardware issue. In any case... We've moved and upon setting up the unraid box, I discover the array won't start because a drive is missing. Nothing in the logs, even the BIOS doesn't think the drive is there. I've checked the cabling, which seems well connected. Any advice on what to do when a drive goes away?

Any advice on what to do when a drive goes away? Give it your new address? (I've heard of parents who moved and did not tell their kids, but this is a first) Seriously, If the array will not start it must be more than one disk that is missing. The array should start with only one drive missing. (You may have to click "Start") Post a syslog. Instructions under troubleshooting in the wiki. Make sure both the data cable and the power cable are attached on both ends. Re-seat the connectors and possibly the disk-controller card. Try a new cable to the drive. The vibration might have caused the old one to fail. If the BIOs still does not see the disk, I suggest now is not the time to wait for a sale. Joe L.
