So what is the deal with VM snapshots ?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have started to use unraid VM features to run couple Redhats for testing scripts ( part of GitLab CI/CD pipeline ), I have installed also virt-manager which supposed to give me ability to make snapshots. I made a snapshot and forgot it, happy doing tests ( in mean time we moved server to different location so it was off once ), today I did just too much damage to the VM I wanted to revert it... but! snapshot is gone for some reason...

What is the proper reliable way to snapshot and restore VMs ?  ( I have used the qcow2 format )  I was kind of hopping that I will not have to go back to vmware.
