bad file descriptor?

wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what could cause a bad file descriptor

 

nothing in the syslog, smartctl reports no errors, filesystem is clean with reiserfsck and it only seems to occur when i copy via samba

 

havent had the issue when copying with sftp or moving files between disks on the command line
