erikatcuse
Ok So I'm looking into using a streamer instead of an HTPC in my livingroom. My HT room has an HTPC running MCE. I really don't want an MCE extender because the lack of HD playback. The xbox is out because for the same reason. I don't want a 360 either. Now I know the Kiss dp-600 is availible but it's suppose to cost close to 700 I'm looking at the IODATA - AVeL LinkPlayer2 http://www.iodata.com/products/products.php?cat=HNP&sc=AVEL&ts=2&tsc=14&sc=AVEL&pId=AVLP2%2FDVDLA06 or Buffalo - Link Theater PC-P3LWG/DVD http://www.buffalotech.com/products/product-detail.php?productid=96&categoryid=18 Would either of these work with the unraid server? I don't want to have to stream from the unraid to the htpc to the streamer. Anyone have one or have any suggestions? Thanks Erik Link to comment
dschur
FYI, the Xbox 360 streams HD quite well (WMV, or TS transport streams via HDTVPump). Those 3 3GHz CPU's make themselves shown. The onboard DD5.1 (toslink, coaxial) output is nice as well. But I can't blame you for skipping the whole MCE thing if streaming movies is all you want to do. Sometimes a dedicated hardwaredevice is the best way. Link to comment

dschur
You install HDTVPump on the media center, which has to be on all of the time for the Xbox 360 to access it). I think HDTVPump is just a DirectShow filter that allows the XBox 360 to render TS files (which it normally does not do). The media would be served from UnRaid->MCE->MCX The Xbox 260 can not read videos directly from any souce other than a Media Center server. Link to comment
