Windows 10 VM onboard audio passthrough fail

Featured Replies

I have an i7 4790 on an Asrock h87m motherboard. I also have a gtx960 which I have successfully passedthrough. My problem is that I can't get the onboard audio to work. It is in it's own iommu group (group 7 if i read this correctly) and when the vm starts I get no errors. When I plug in a device (headphones or speakers) windows 10 recognizes the connected device, but I get no audio from it!

what I have tried so far:

- uninstalling the original windows drivers and scanning for hardware changes, thus reinstalling the original drivers

- going to the asrock website and downloading realtek audio drivers

Most of the problems I have read that people have with onboard audio is with iommu groupings or that their card doesn't appear at all in the drop down menu when setting up the vm.

I'm at a loss about what to do. I have tried both speakers and headphones, both in the front and back audio jacks of my case and I still get the same result (they are recognised but no audio is coming through). Of course I have "set default" for these devices in the windows audio menu and selected them.

Any help would be much appreciated!
