Locked folders when file is being edited.

Featured Replies

I've had UnRaid (most recent stable) running on a small file server for about 6 months now, and it had been flawless until last week. I have about 10 (All Windows 10) users accessing files throughout the day. Recently the server has been exhibiting some strange file permission issues. If a user is editing an excel document (or anything really) it will lock the base folder of that folder structure out and not allow access to anyone else. I'll have to ask the user to close whatever program is being used to edit that document and then manually run the mover tool to open the directory back up.

At first I thought that the mover tool couldn't complete its function with an open file and that is what was locking the directory, so I changed the mover to once a day. I'm still having the locker directory issue pop up all the time. This has me scratching my head and assume it is some sort of Linux file permission quirk, but I'm at a loss on how to attack this problem.

At about the same time this started, I've had a few complaints about access. It seems that while each user is allowed to browse the share drive and edit files, some programs on their machine aren't allowed to change files/file structure on the shared drive.

Any insights or troubleshooting steps I should start with?
