Win 10 VM - VirtIO SSD Passthrough

Featured Replies

I've resolved an issue I had but it was by pure luck really and I'm not sure what/why that was actually causing the problem

For whatever reason there was no video output via External Graphics after I changed to virtio for the SSD (It was SATA before and I just wanted better performance)

VNC would work perfectly fine.. soon as I switched back there was no output. I couldn't check if it was actually booting

I didn't save my config before so I'm not sure of this section but I got it fixed by changing this

What is it about the network card being on bus 7 func 0 that would cause the VM not to display any output (or maybe it wasn't fully booting I couldn't tell) but it did work with VNC

Not working

    <interface type='bridge'>
      <mac address='52:54:00:bb:42:cd'/>
      <source bridge='br0'/>
      <target dev='vnet0'/>
      <model type='virtio-net'/>
      <alias name='net0'/>
      <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x07' slot='0x01' function='0x0'/>

Working

    <interface type='bridge'>
      <mac address='52:54:00:bb:42:cd'/>
      <source bridge='br0'/>
      <target dev='vnet0'/>
      <model type='virtio-net'/>
      <alias name='net0'/>
      <address type='pci' domain='0x0000' bus='0x00' slot='0x01' function='0x7'/>

Here is my full config now running
