How do I setup user share access via SSH/SFTP?

hello,

I have the unRAID server up and running today, and I'm am needing to access it remotely. Previously on Windows i was using OpenSSH to allow friends (and myself) to connect remotely to the server and retrieve media files or upload backups. I installed OpenSSH and can successfully connect and login as root, but I'm unable to login as any other users via SSH/SFTP.

How do I set up users for SSH access?
