- Urgent
After the update, I experienced the following:
-
When looking at the Main page, the array was shown stopped. I then clicked the start button. Unraid, however, reported an error in that a disk was missing. I checked my array and noticed that my original array of 3 slots (2 Data + 1 Parity disks) had somehow changed to an array of 4 slots of 2D+2P where the 2nd parity was (obviously) unassigned.
Expectation: Unraid should have left the array configuration alone during the update and not change from a 3 to 4 disk array. -
I assigned another free disk as Parity #2 and clicked on Start and on the then showing dialogue I klicked on Proceed. What happened then was a partial freeze of the browser window: I could not scroll anymore, some buttons where still clickable, others were not. I tried this with Vivaldi on after having turned off my ad blockers, Firefox (both Linux) and Safari on an iPad, always the same freezing was seen.
The status bar continued showing "Array stopped", no animation was seen.
Expectation: right after clicking Proceed, the animation should show, the status bar should be updated with "Array starting" and the window should still usable. -
I deleted my old array via "New Config" and tried to create a new one with again three slots. That was impossible as Unraid would always auto-configure two Parity disks, so I had only the choice for a 1D+2P config with 3 slots or 2D+2P with 4 slots.
Expectation: Unraid should offer configs with one parity only, e.g. 2D+1P for a 3 disk array
I then downgraded Unraid back to 6.12.13 and found my array untouched with 3 slots. I could immediately start it. That way I think one can be pretty sure that it is an Unraid v7 issue.
I missed pulling the diag report in v7, so I attached the one of the now running v6.
PS: I classified this report as urgent as this bug has high impact (though no more urgent for me personally)
PPS: Just read the rule for urgent reports. The behaviour was reproducable all the time while operating in v7, but pls forgive me that I do not want to try the upgrade again and see if it screws up my system again
