Was able to reset password. Thank you. Here is my diagnostic file.
-
Same problem after update to 6.12.4. LAN card not blinking, can't find server, no GUI. And I have a 128 character password, that I have to type blind on a non-English keyboard.
Did this to reset password :
"Bing up an editor (such as Notepad++) on the following file:
/boot/config/shadow
On the first line, you should see something such as:
root:\$&\$&%\*1112233484847648DHD\$%.:15477:0:99999:7:::
Change that line to the following (essentially delete the content between the first and second colons):
root::15477:0:99999:7:::"
I type root and I leave password empty, it says wrong password. Can't get new diagnostics file.
I only have an old diagnostics file from 6 months ago.
What to do?
-
It isn't in the array, it is in unassigned devices (previous disk 2). It is Dev 1, and Dev 2 is faulty disk that would not rebuild parity. Both out of the array.
-
-
Thank you, we solved it. I check marked "Preserve current assignments: Pool slots." I mixed what it means pool slots with array slots. I thought it would preserve only cache pools.
-
Ok I see you need more context. I want to shrink array because i now have four WD6TB disks fail after 2 years. I have old green wd disks no problems. But new purple and reds are a disaster. I RMA disks back and fourth few times, and I get stuck with them not working. Last time was like this:
I go new config but it says "Too many wrong and/or missing disks!"

I upgraded firmware to (20.00.07.00) like you suggested. Parity disk again disabled. Giving you diagnostics before reboot, and smart values of the disk.

A month ago i had two drives fail long smart test Parity2 and Disk1. RMA-d the drives and bought new ones. During rebuild with the new ones ( both at the same time), one drooped out (Disk1), but parity2 disk Rebuild successfully. Then i rebuild parity Disk 1. Everything works fine for a day and then my Parity 1 is disabled (bought 3 disks in a batch 2 failed previously). New and old disks at some point were disabled, don't now the cause. Smart values are ok. Rebuilding parity for the third time. Can you take look at diagnostic files. First file is after rebuild of parity2 (disk1 disabled), and second is after parity was fully restored and then older drive is disabled (parity1). Thank you.

I did reboot, because i went to check the cables. Had UDMA CRC errors on SSD because i had cabels to tight and they interfered with each other.

I bought 2 years ago 3 wd reds 6tb. Two are parity and third is disk 1. Parity 2 and disk 1 one failed within 19 min (same batch). They dropped out of array and extended smart test shows read faliure (at LBA 10855187016), ran it two times. Short is without reallocated event count and current pending sector. What should i do? Can I RMA?

I didn't tell unraid to do that. I added a 4th NIC, same thing happened. How to stop it?
