  1. Hi Joe, Yes, user shares are enabled, created shares and successfully accessed. I have also created a user seperate to root and if I set the disk shares to private am asked whether this user has access. The same doesn't happen for the user shares I've created. Thanks. Chris
  2. Hi, Just purchased and applied the Plus license so that I can use the user level security for SMB user shares. I assume the license has worked because there is a registered date, would this be the correct indicator, couldn't find any other way to check? After reading the manual and searching the forum I ws expecting to find a switch for this function in Identity or the Shares page, but nothing has appeared after reboot. If I try and select private from the Security box on the share it just defaults to public. Any ideas would be welcomed? Thanks Chris
  3. Card turned up and worked perfectly. Bought the card second hand on ebay in case it didn't work either. Cost me just over a fiver.
  4. Answered my own question and thanks to zerenx for his post I finally managed to compile and install the alternate driver. Unfortunately this made no difference, so have ordered an Intel Pro1000 GT .........
  5. Ok I'm going to have a go at compiling the driver myself using the virtualbox guide in the wiki.... Would someone please answer whether I need the exact same kernel version 3.0.31 and if so where I might find it as the archives don't have this specific version? Thanks, Chris
  6. No probs, will keep updating as I make any progress. I believe the issue I had with that driver package was because it was compiled for an old kernel version, but I have no Linux experience at all so am guessing. It looks like the r8168 is included from a previous version so hopefully won't mean compiling from scratch as I wouldn't know where to start. If it is included I presume there's a way to force it's use, so if anyone could point me in the right direction I'll give it a go!? Thanks, Chris
  7. I've tried changing the driver according to http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19547.msg173757#msg173757. This leaves me with no connection at all. Any tips greatly appreciated!? Chris
  8. Hi, Finally made some progress and got wol working through an old Vista disk, but still no joy with un RAID. At least this proves the hardware is working and capable of WOL. I also found various references to others with WOL issues from another raid system forum which pointed towards drivers issues with the same Realtek nic. Is there a way to install an updated driver? Also came across s2ram, anyone know whether this could help? Chris
  9. Hi guys, Quick update, I also get the same results from ethtool eth0. Have given windows ago and no success, although it was a bit rushed last night. I wonder whether there's an issue with the NIC being a Realtek 8111E so may go down the PCI Intel nic route. Will update if I get any further. Chris
  10. Hi, I'm also a new user posting for the first time and just happen to have exactly the same setup with the same issue. The only other thing I tried was to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version to no avail. The next step I was intending to try when I get a chance tonight is to boot into windows and test to see whether that works. Is this worthwhile or does anyone have any other suggestions? If not I will post my results later...... Also excellent forum! Product, community and information available has made the whole experience very enjoyable, I will be upgrading to the Pro version! Chris
