  1. As a follow up, since i had not set a static ip, my ip had actually changed between reboots which is why i thought it was down. This message: pci 0000:0a:00.0: vgaarb: VGA device added: decodes=io+mem, owns=io+mem, locks=none Had nothing to do nor was it indicative as to why i thought it was stuck a boot. After passing a vbios to my vm and tweaking a few settings in xml, i was able to get my windows 10 vm loaded again with my 1080ti passthru working. Previously, it didn't require a vbios on my rtx2080.
  2. i removed video-efifb:off. I'm able to start successfully in safe mode, but in regular mode, even with that setting removed, it won't get past that line at boot.
  3. After adding video-efifb:off to my config, detailed in this post, unraid is now stuck at boot with pci 0000:0a:00.0: vgaarb: VGA device added: decodes=io+mem, owns=io+mem, locks=none My guess is i have to remove the boot usb and edit out that change?
  4. ok. after adding video-efifb:off and rebooting, i'm not stuck at bootup on this line, as you predicted: pci 0000:0a:00.0: vgaarb: VGA device added: decodes=io+mem, owns=io+mem, locks=none What now? do i have to take the usb drive out and remove that value using a different pc?
  5. Need a bit of help here. I have a windows 10 vm that was running perfectly with a 2080rtx passed through along with a pass-through ssd. I hadn't used that vm in a while. A few notable events happened since i last used it. - Array Drive failed (fixed) - Swapped out the rtx 2080 for 1080ti (yes, it's a working video card) - upgraded unraid (can't remember from which version) The windows 10 vm will not boot nor output video from the 1080ti. (it does successfully start) - I have made sure to add the correct vfio-pci.ids in the syslinux config. (for both the card and hdmi audio) I rebooted unraid after these changes. - The vm will boot fine with just vnc as the video card - If i add both VNC and Nvidia cards, it boots fine then hangs and reboots. - Yes, i'm also making sure to add both the video card and hdmi audio when attempting to boot with just the video card. - I know the OS is not booting because i have vnc running in service mode and can never connect to it - I am NOT booting unraid in uefi mode - i ran the following command to unbind and rebooted afterwards, without any luck echo "0000:0a:00.0" /sys/bus/pci/drivers/vfio-pci/unbind Attaching my diag in the hopes one of you fine people can help me out here. My guess is that since i swapped video cards some ID changed somewhere or perhaps something is initializing the video before boot. i was also running this fine without using a graphics bios file with the rtx2080 tower-diagnostics-20200525-1833.zip
  6. ok, great. that appears to be working now. 6 hours to go on the rebuild. I should be ok to just leave the current parity disk as parity disk 2, right?
  7. ok, so i removed parity 1 which was the original 4tb parity drive. Array is back up with just the 8tb as parity 2 and disk 1 does show as missing with its contents now being emulated. Verified they are also actually available by accessing the files on that drive. The question is how do i now use the old parity 1 drive to replace the missing 4tb disk 1 drive without losing content.
  8. i forgot to add that i have physically removed the failed drive. Should i re-install it?
  9. as follows: few days ago it was disabled due to a read error, it a few(under 40) pending sectors, and fewer reallocated sectors. readded it to the array and rebuilt parity and it was fine a few days later it was disabled again what little i was able to grab out of smartctl showed that it had thousands of pending sectors and almost 10k reallocated. tried to readd it into the array kept failing with I/O error

  11. I'd appreciate any help here. Not sure where i went wrong. I had a drive in my array go bad. Configuration when my drive went bad Parity: 1 x 4tb seagate Array: 4 x 4tb seagate One of my array drives went bad. I wanted to take the opportunity and upgrade the 4tb parity drive with an 8tb wd drive and use the old 4tb parity to replace the failed disk. It would not allow me to do the parity swap procedure as i never got the copy old parity to new parity option. So last night i added the 8tb drive as the second parity drive thinking that i would be able to unassign the 4tb parity drive and just use it to rebuild the array. but now i get the too many wrong or missing disks when i try do to this swap. What should i do here? help.
