  1. Hi doorunrun Thank you very much! Now the server booted. It had to run the MAKE_BOOTABLE batch file again. I already upgraded to the latest stable release 5.0 from 08/28. Now everything ist perfect. Greetz, Ulan
  2. Hi folks My unraid server did run for several years without any Major Problems (9 hard disks in the server). I upgraded 4 weeks ago from 5.0 beta 13 to rc16. Everything went fine, server worked. Only my Dune Player couldn't find the shares anymore (everything "empty"). With windows explorer, no problem, all the shares showed up. After all a friend of mine and me we couldn't solve the dune player "empty" problem, so I decided to downgrade back to 5.0 beta13, which was after all a bad idea.... And here the problems started.... I put all the backup-files of the previously 5.0 beta 13 back on the usb stick. But afterwards the server doesn't boot anymore "no array defined" and "boot error". So I put back all the back-up files uo rc15 back on the usb stick. Now exactly the same: "no array defined" and "boot error"......... Obviously I did something seriously wrong, but as I'm no the expert, I have no clue, what went wrong.... Do you have any suggestions to solve my problem? Thanks in advance, Ulan
  3. Short Update: I tried a different switch for the network: Same problems The disk I want to write to, gets a lot of "reads" and no writes. Same behaviour for all the data disks... The network error is 0x8007003B.... Any suggestions? Thanks!
  4. Hi guys I'm using Unraid for a couple of years. Since two weeks I've serious trouble to write to the array (version 4.7, same behaviour with 4.5.6) .... Files of about 1 GB sometimes start to copy (after a long time for "calculating space") most of the time they won't even start. "Cannot connect to disk 2" network error. Larger files can't be copied. Some behaviour for win7 an XP machines, same behaviour for all the disks (8 data disks). I did a memtest for 24 hours (no errors), I did two parity checks (no errors) and streaming from the array works perfectly. Two weeks ago I had the red ball issue like http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=16137.0 with a two months old WD-Disk. I did a smart test (OK), I reassigned the disk and rebuilt it, after that two parity checks showed no errors. I don't know where to start, syslog is attached. Your help is appreciated! Thank you. Sincerely, Ulan syslog.txt
  5. Thanks RobJ It worked like a charm!!! Very easy to do. The short FAQ is all you need... Thorsten
  6. Hi folks My unraid server ist running since almost three years, without any major problems. Since 4 weeks I got some real trouble with reproduceable system crashes of my server. During bootup of the server there then started to be a weird noise beside the cpu (AMD Sempron on motherboard Gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G with 9 harddrives (7 SATA, 2 IDE)). The problems started when the sound appeared. After looking inside I could localize the sound: It comes from an inductor (get's really hot....). After system crash, the sound disappears. So I figured out that the motherboard is not good anymore. I want to replace it with an asus M2N68-AM Plus. This one also has 4 SATA connectors. So set-up should be the same as with the Gigabyte-Board. Is there anything special to pay attention to? Thanks for your help! Greetings from switzerland, Thorsten
  7. @trueimage I use the Promise Ultra 133 TX2 with my AMD setup since a couple of days. Overall i have 6 drives in my array (2 SATA and 4 PATA). No problems so far. That was the best way for me to use PATA drives with my Gigabyte-mobo and UNRAID. See here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=316.30 Best regards, Thorsten
  8. Hi owners of AMD mobos Since I didn't get any response from Tom, I added a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 PCI IDE controller card. I got it cheap in switzerland. It works fine so far. No more waiting and trying to solve the nforce4 issue. My advise ist so far: If you need to add PATA drives to your array and you have the nforce4 chipset on your mobo, don't hesitate to get a Promise controller. Greets from switzerland, Thorsten
  9. Hi yes there is a problem concerning IDE Drives and nforce4 Chipsets (AMD)...... I have the Gigabyte GA-M51gm-S2G and I didn't get the IDE drives to work. SATA is doing well... See here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=316.0 I hope Tom could add appropriate drivers soon. Best regards, Thorsten
  10. Thanks for your reply jknight! If Tom doesn't get it to work, I'll probably use the Promise IDE Controller (Promise Ultra100/133 TX2 [PDC20268]) which is already supported by UnRAID. But still I hope for a direct solution for the Gigabyte board. It seems to be ideal with the possibility to connect 4 IDE drives and 4 SATA drives right away..... Thorsten
  11. @jknight I got the Gigabyte GA-M51gm-S2G as well. It works well with SATA drives. But I've some serious trouble to get my IDE drives to clear in a decent time. Clearing takes forever (1% in an hour.....) Do you have any IDE drives connected to your Gigabyte Board? I tried three different drives so far: Seagate Barracuda 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 250 GB Samsung 160 GB All work well in my other PCs. I tried different cables, different settings (Master, cable select, slave) no difference..... It seems that there is a problem with the IDE channels for this board as well.... BTW: I'm using 3.1 Beta2 in pro version Hi from Switzerland, Thorsten
  12. I'm really interested in building the unRAID soon. That's why I want to bring this topic up again: Are there any other motherboards supported by unRAID than the old intel board (which is almost impossible to find in Germany / Switzerland) and the ASUS P5PE-VM with socket 775? Since the unRAID is running 24/7 I was thinking of using an energy efficient cpu, i.e. AMD Sempron. That requires for instance a mobo with socket 939. Can we put up a real list with supported / working motherboards? I think that might be really helpful for everybody who is planning to built the unRAID Server to make the right descision and to make unRAID more popular. Greets from Switzerland, Ulan
