  1. Really liked reading the article.. And even liked the names of your servers. This is going to be sorta off the wall from the other questions asked. I'm building the 20 drive budget rackmount greenleaf Tech http://greenleaf-technology.com/blogs/prototypes/index.php?id=2601838967498401788 Currently I'm using older parts and older gaming case with 4 2tb drives and wll be converting to the hardware listed in that article. I'm very fluent in building gaming machines but want to have a different look so I'm using the Norco RPC 4220. What do you use for mounting? I'm thinking of going with a 4 post 15u mount like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816133039 But looking at the reviews the Norco Rack doesn't really fit the Norco cases. Will be building the server fast since my data needs are surpassing the 6tb mark, if I don't have a rack mount kit I'm assuming you can't put the 4220 directly on the floor, or carpet. With your IT experience in racks and with using a norco chassis at home what are some recommendations on what and where to buy a nice rack with some extra room for a UPS and switch. 15U seems like a good size, I like the wheels since I'll probably keep it in a room that has carpet. Thanks
  2. appreciate the response Not quite sure of the Rsync script as I'm just now messing with linux. When searching for information about this I came across; http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=13432.0 Would you suggest this, and on page two use TeamHood's step-by-step? And since I would have the ability to use the Norco hotswap bays inside the source Server, would this still be the best way to go? thanks again for all the help you guys can offer.
  3. New to unraid, so sorry for anything that seems trival. Been searching the forums and saw posts close to what I want to do but not exactly. I have a friend running Unraid, with about 5tb of data I would like to snatch from him on to my new server. My house is wired with cat6, I have gigabit switches and routers. But was hoping for something faster. He uses the norco drive bays...has plenty of empty ones fully wired and has the pro license key. Is there a way to throw into his drive bays, my data drives, copy from his array 5tb worth of data to my drives, remove my drives, put them back into my machine, add a parity drive and parity sync? At this point, I have gotten the prolicense key. I have built the server, I have three 2tb drives pre-cleared with another 2tb drive (will be parity drive) in the mail. I have done no configuration of the drives yet in Unraid other than verify that they are seen. Any help on this process (if it is better than transferring 5tb through a network connection) would be greatly appriciated.
