  1. Got a Quadro K400 to work. So far my experience with Unraid issues have all been "if it doesn't work, get new/different hardware" lol. I wanted to get a card working that wasn't the 1070ti so I'm good now...
  2. Also tried a GTX 1650 which didn't work... ugh this sucks.
  3. Hello, I am in the middle of troubleshooting a no video output problem on a GPU passthrough for a windows VM. Using the same settings on the VM, the GPU passthrough works properly with a GTX 1070ti, but I'm not getting a video output with a GTX 660. I dumped both BIOS files from GPU-Z in windows and modified them as shown on the spaceinvader one instructional videos. Does this mean certain video cards are just not compatible and will not passthrough to a VM in Unraid?
  4. Hello, I am having a problem with a Windows VM that is not outputting video to the monitor. The server has 1 GPU (Nvidia GTX 660) that I am passing through to the VM with a BIOS rom for the GPU. I tried using one downloaded from techpowerup and also one that I dumped manually. The VM does start properly and I'm able to log into it remotely over the network, but the monitor connected to the GPU does not display anything. Some info/stuff I tried: Unraid is running in legacy mode (not UEFI) I tried switching between i440fx and Q35 Also tried SeaBIOS and OVMF What are some things I can try to fix this? Thank you in advance!
  5. Yep, tried turning off XMP and running at SPD speeds. I have not, but that's not an option for me because I need to run a VM with a GPU passthrough, and it only worked properly in legacy boot mode when I was testing it before. Since my last post, I've swapped some things around and am currently running Unraid on an Asus B450 board with a Ryzen 5 2600X chip. It's been running stable for 12+ hours now. I guess I'm sticking with this setup for now.
  6. I'm not using a combination of the 2 different memory modules I listed above. I was just listing the 2 different sets that I tried for testing. I've only tried using 2 x corsair, 1 x corsair, 2 x hynix, and 1 x hynix. All resulted in the same freezing/crashes. I just swapped the X470 board out again for the Intel board, and again I'm able to start the array, mount unassigned drives, launch krusader, copy files with no problems. Starting to run out of ideas... I'd really like to figure out the problem so that I don't have to go buy Intel stuff for my migration. Only thing I can think of at this point is maybe an AMD board from a different manufacturer. I guess the one thing that didn't change between the 2 MSI boards i've tried is the 3600X...
  7. Nope, no scripts running. Only additional items are Unassigned Devices plugin, binhex-krusader docker, and Fix Common Issues plugin. And yes, I've tried doing a clean install on both flash drives. Even tried wiping all of the drives, setting up a new array, and formatting all the drives again. The ONLY time it did not crash beyond 15~min is when I tried the old Intel board+CPU. I was able to copy about 8TB of data from an unassigned drive on the same system overnight.
  8. Had a Radeon R7 430 in there. Just tried with an old quadro card and it crashed right away when I tried to start the array.
  9. Just tried using USB 2.0 port, same thing. Also just tried Unraid v6.8.2 with the same freezing problem happening right away. Sometimes it'll freeze right when i try to start the array, other times when I try to start Krusader, or if I happen to get as far as starting Krusader, when I start copying files it'll freeze. Sometimes I'll see the kernel panic on the screen like below, other times it just freezes and the screen is sitting at the login prompt.
  10. Legacy boot. Flash drives are Sandisk Cruzer Blade 8GB and Toshiba TransMemory 8GB. Think I was using USB 3.0 ports.
  11. MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max MSI X570-A PRO 2 x Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B30000C15 8GB (DDR4-3000) 2 x SK Hynix HMA82GU6CJR8N 16GB (DDR4-2666) The X570 board I've tried the latest stable version of the BIOS. I tried flashing to the latest beta bios and that actually killed the board, so I'm waiting to RMA that. THe X470's BIOS is on a version of November of last year, and I haven't tried the newest version because it didn't have any effect on the X570 board. I've tried various combinations of the above boards and memory modules in both single and dual configs with same results.
  12. Yep, I saw that post before also and the memory settings are at their default (even tried running at lower speeds than rated), with no overclocking. I've also tested the RAM with Memtest and they passed with no problems. As I've said, I'm having the problem with 2 different memory sets.
  13. Hello, I'm trying to set up a new Unraid server, and I'm having a LOT of trouble getting it to run on the AMD platform. I initially tried to install it on an X570 board with a Ryzen 5 3600x, and had problems with it freezing/crashing/kernel panicking whenever I tried to do anything substantial like installing krusader, copying files, etc. I tried all of these suggested fixed I could find: Adding 'rcu_nocbs=0-11' in syslinux config Set Global C-state control to disabled Set Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle Update BIOS to latest version Tried Unraid 6.8.3 and 6.9.0-beta22 None of those helped. I then tried switching to an old B85 LGA1150 board with a dual core Intel chip, and it ran perfectly stable for 12+ hours while I was copying files and doing other stuff. I thought maybe the X570 chipset was the issue and tried an X470 board with the same Ryzen 3600x chip, and it immediately froze again when I tried to launch Krusader. I've also tried 2 different sets of memory, different video cards, different flash drives, and different HBAs with the 2 AMD boards with the same results. I've also ran Windows on the AMD hardware with no problems before. Am I missing something? Are there any other things I can try to fix the stability issue on the Ryzen platform? I'm trying to move to Unraid from a legacy RAID setup, and this experience has been incredibly frustrating. I could certainly use some help. Do I just need to go Intel for Unraid?
  14. I used this plugin to pass through my nvme controller/drive and created a new Windows VM (selected 'None' for vdisk). The install finished, but on every VM startup, the "press any key to boot from DVD..." still shows then I have to type exit at the next prompt, then navigate the emulated BIOS to manually select the boot drive to boot into Windows. How do I fix the VM config so that it boots into Windows normally?
  15. Hello, I'm looking to convert my file server from a Windows/Legacy RAID 6 setup to an Unraid/Windows VM setup, and I'm looking for some advice/help. First, here's my current setup: Windows Server 2016 Areca ARC-1280ML RAID controller 12 x 8TB Drives in RAID 6 (Configured as 2 NTFS volumes/drive letters) 24 bay chassis / AM4 CPU/MB setup I also have 12 x new 14TB drives (WD140EMFZ) that I would like to set up in Unraid with dual parity. I am currently planning to get a SAS HBA in IT mode (LSI 9200-8i) along with a SAS Expander (IBM 46M0997) to connect the new drives. Once Unraid setup is done, I'd like to move all of my data from the RAID6 volumes to the Unraid array then retire the 8TB drives. I'm also planning to set up and run a Windows Server 2016 VM on the same Unraid server. My questions are: What would be the best/fastest way to copy the data? I would prefer to not have to move the RAID6 array to another machine to accomplish this. My initial thought was to pass the Areca RAID adapter to the Windows VM then copy the data in the VM environment to the Unraid shares. When setting up the Unraid array with the 14TB drives, should I initially only use 10 drives with no parity then add the 2 parity drives AFTER the data copy is all done? (I saw this being recommended somewhere to speed up the process) Is the LSI 9200-8i + IBM 46M0997 plan suitable? Should I consider something else? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated as well. I'm brand new to Unraid 😓 Thank you!
