  1. hey all, hope everyone is well.

so after following this guide to a T, it says connected but nothing loads, even with set to remote tunnelled access, with 8.8.8.8 set I get nothing.

also when I connect to the client on my phone, it won't even load the unread dashboard.

    what have I missed

  2. Evening all. I hope everyone is safe and well.

So whiting my build I added an NVME ssd, that I had set up as unassigned drive. I decided to change this over to an SSD cache drive instead, but just keep getting

    Unmountable: Unsupported partition layout

when the unraid is stopped, I dont get any option to format, other than using the unassigned drive button, which still gives me this issue anyway.

    can anyone help? pretty please?

  3. FYI, You should change the title of this topic to something more descriptive reflecting this discussion. That way if another user has a similar question, they can find it easily by searching the forum.

If you feel I have resolved your question, you should also prefix it with [sOLVED].

Hope to see you over in the UUD topic!

My bad. The replies given have been exactly what I was looking for. So effectively there is no need for the post. However. Thank you to the user who was super fast and shared awesome info. You’ve just made my video workflow a huge amount better .

  4. Definitely. It’s what we do and it is the fastest architecture so far. Just don’t edit your raw footage without backups. Unassigned drive/share is not natively protected.

You’re a superstar. Thank you. It will be here any minute so of course I will be putting it straight in.

  5. I run a media production company on my UNRAID server. NVMe on Unassigned Drives share and a 10 Gig NIC card will give you awesome 1Gb/s SMB performance. Keep editing/projects separate from the array to avoid SFHS overhead while editing. Transfer projects/output manually or script movement to cache/array once you are done. Keep backups of your raw footage on parity protected array. Used copies of raw footage on the unassigned share for use while exiting. Good luck!

    That’s wicked. Yeah I have 10gb nic.

So defo go with the unassigned and put that as it’s own share ?

  6. any video editors able to help?

got an m.2 coming today, for direct editing from the nas ( or for the fastest workflow), am i better leaving as an unassigned disk, then creating a share on that or using as SSD cache?

only thing is i don't want is the data moving itself across every evening as the project may need to be on the SSD for a week plus while i work on the project, then moving it across to the mechanical drives

I think it would better to have a share on the m.2 and then the main share with my mechanicals, then once I am done I can transfer from one to the other.

can anyone help shed some light as I haven't played with it this much for a while

  7. Yeah that’s the guide I tried to follow. But it quickly shows that the guide doesn’t match with the latest version. It asks to stop it and export a config file, but after install it wasn’t running and it asks for a co gif file to be added first. Just didn’t match so made it hard to follow. Will try again though.

  8. I am looking for some help with a couple of apps.

1 - how can I check the age of the drives in my array?

    and

2 - is there an app for added security? I have set up remote access through wireguard and duckdns but wanted to know if I can get an app to run for extra security ?

and lastly, ive seen some videos showing Grafana, however from my research, all the set up guides are out dated and the instructions no longer match the system, can anyone shed any light here?

Is the network you are connecting FROM on a different subnet to 192.168.0.x ?   If not that might explain why you are having problems as you could be picking up the wrong DNS server.    I have deliberately set my home subnet to not be on the 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x subnets as these are frequently encountered on the client end.      You might be better off specifying something like 8.8.8.8 as a DNS server.

not sure how to do this or check, still learning as I go through my trial period to get everything set up
