  1. Okay so swapped the NIC and HBA. It didn't want to boot for a while but after a few tries it now boots. All my disks seam to be okay. But if I try to start my RTX3070 VM the Tiano core screen appears but I can also still see the unraid GUI! I'm using the spaceinvader method to pass through. I then can't shutdown unraid through the GUI, so I have to power off the server with the power button. But then if i reboot into GUI mode the GUI is inaccessible. I have to boot into safe mode with GUI. Start the array and then restart in GUI mode. So I am stuck in this loop 😂unraid-diagnostics-20210314-1539.zip I've added my log, at the point where I am about to start the VM. Any ideas?
  2. It was difficult to do. I didn't have a Dremel so I used the blade from a junior hacksaw and a set of needle files.
  3. Thanks, I'll try it in a different slot. My X570 board only has 2 full length PCIe slots. I also have a quad intel NIC card and RTX3070. So I cut the end out of one of the shorter slots so my HBA fits. I'd seen Linus do it in an old video. I assumed I'd just loose a bit of max bandwidth if it's using less lanes. I'll swap the HBA and NIC and see what happens. Cheers

  5. For some reason my drives are also in unassigned devices?
  6. Hi, I had 4 drives plugged into my MB working fine. I added a HBA card and moved them over. One of my disks became disabled. I did the procedure for re-enabling it but that didn't work. So I added a new drive and did a parity rebuild. Then that drive is showed unmountable. So I did a drive format thinking I would only loose the data on that one drive. I did the format and then a parity/data rebuild. Now all my drives are mounted okay but there is nothing in any of my shares (other than ones on the cache pool). If I go to root/media/user the shares are there but empty. If I go to each disk root/media/disk1 the folders in the shares are there but no files. The dashboard shows the drives are still full. My dockers have gone but the appdata folder and docker.img are on my cache drive. Any ideas on what to do? I didn't mind loosing one drive worth of films but now all my data is unreachable.
  7. Update: Got another Flash drive and unraid support transferred my my key again. System seams much better now, shuts down properly. Think the problems were down to the Bios revision and then swapping from one bad flash drive to another bad flash drive. Thank you to everyone for the help.
  8. Update: Server has run for over an hour okay. Seams the BIOS update has somehow fixed the problem of the GUI not working out side of safe mode. The unassigned devices setting for auto mounting USB devices seams to have been causing the problems Flash drive and therefore Unraid seeing the license key once the array started. Now my only issue seams to be shutting down. I get the 'waiting 600 sec for graceful shutdown' message. However the system never shuts down, same issue with reboot.
  9. Oh right, I'm using a Gigabyte X570 aorus elite Mb. Before I started having problems it was working well using the rear IO USB3, I'm now trying the rear IO USB2. I do have a USB3 PCI card I could try. Why would the rear IO USB have been okay before and now have a problem though? Then only other thing that has changed is going from a AMD 1600 to 3900x. Edit: Dockers and VM's are disabled and nothing is bound in VFIO when I boot in safe mode. I did have to flash my Mb BIOS when I changed my CPU. Edit part2: Updated my BIOS from version F11 to F31. I can now get into the GUI without needing to be in safe mode! However it still looses the flash drive when I start the array. Still can't shutdown but I guess this is because it can't access the flash drive which it probably needs to when shutting down. Restarted and the Array auto started. Noticed that my flash drive is also under unassigned devices. Screenshot attached. Now I can boot without safe mode I can see that unassigned devices is set to auto mount USB devices. Next problem 😂 is how to disable it. If I boot in safe mode without plugins it's not there for me to change. If I boot in normal GUI mode it auto starts the array and it cannot change the setting. So I have unplugged two drives, to stop the array auto starting. I've then changed the unassigned devices setting to not auto mount USB drives. Shutdown gracefully and booted back up with drives plugged back in. Array has auto started and key is valid. Will check after an hour and post findings.
  10. Oh right okay. What should I do about that? Is it because of the flash drive I am using?
  11. Just noticed something. Before I start the array. If I go to my flash drive and browse, all the files and folders are there. Once I start the array, if browse again the drive appears empty. I guess this would make sense as to why it cannot find the key file. But why would there be nothing there after mounting the array? Also, this must be why I am getting errors about files not being found, as the files not being found are ones located in /boot
  12. To keep the thread updated: Limetech support has manually blacklisted my old flash drive and then given me a key to install. I installed the key and it said it was okay. Then I started the array and it went back to key in valid. I have ran the checkdisk. Plugged into USB2 port, was in USB3.2 last time. Booted in safe mode. Key appears okay. Started array, now says missing key file. I've attached another diagnostics. I don't know if it's related but I can't shut the server down. If I use either the GUI or shutdown -h -t sec "now" then it starts the shutdown and says waiting 600 sec for graceful shutdown but still doesn't shut down after 20 mins. I can only turn it off with the power button on the case. The 'Starting services' keeps flashing next to where it says array started. Don't know if this is relevant. If I got to VM Manager, I have a warning for "Parse_ini_file (/boot/config/domain.cfg) failed to open stream" I have lots of these "failed to open stream" warnings, such as under CPU pinning and isolation. A lot of them seam to be refereeing to php files. Cheers unraid-diagnostics-20210116-0849.zip
  13. Hi, The only USB devices plugged in are: Unraid flash drive USB - keyboard - mouse dongle - headphones ( I normally pass the USB hub for these through to a VM)# The Unraid OS has only ever been installed on a USB drive. There is another NVME drive in the system with a Windows install on it. This is also normally passed through to the VM. When I have made the diagnostics attached I am in safe mode. Thank you, unraid-diagnostics-20210115-2043.zip
  14. I have done replace key. Copied the key URL into the field and installed. I said it was successful. I then started the array and it changed to key invalid again. I have shutdown the system. Started it again and now I can't access the GUI again. Locally or on the network. Locally, it opens the firefox window but is unable to connect. Unraid 6.9 rc2 by the way.
  15. Okay, so I have started afresh. I have extracted a flash backup and copied all the contents to a different formatted USB. I have then copied the .key file (sent to me yesterday by Unraid support) to the config folder. I have then ran the makebootable script. I can now access the GUI in GUI mode. Previously I could only access it in safe mode. It seems like the backup has restored okay. It says by basic key is invalid. It does say my Flash GUI is different to the registered GUI. Should I do 'Replace key'? Thank you for the help by the way. 🙂 Appreciated
