  1. Hi @itimpi, Thank you for your prompt reply. I used the word "reboot", because that is what happens. The system power cycles and starts again triggering an "unclean shutdown". I would use the term "crash" if I was able to catch an error of some sort, but I wasn't able to pin it down. CPU Cooling: The CPU is cooled by a be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (190W TDP), running at a comfortable 30-35 °C. Since the CPU is no longer overclocked it's running even cooler now. PSU: The PSU is a Corsair RM 750X and has 750W of available power. This is way more then what the system needs right now. What bothers me the most and makes the troubleshooting even harder is that I'm not experiencing the same issues under a different OS. As mentioned in my firs post the system has been rock-solid for years on Windows. If you could take a look at the provided logs, maybe you will notice something relevant. Your help is much appreciated 👍
  2. Dear Unraiders, Last month I've repurposed an old gaming PC as my Unraid media server. Before the switch to Unraid, the PC was running Windows 10 and was rock-solid, working for up to 30+ days without a reboot. Ever since I've moved to Unraid I've been having stability issues and wasn't able to go for a few days before the server unexpectedly rebooted triggering an "Unclean shutdown" and starting an "Automatic Correcting Parity-Check". I've upgraded the PC with a couple of Seagate Exos X20 18TB drives and two additional sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (same type and vendor as the ones already isntalled in the PC). At first I thought that the new RAM was causing problems, since I had no issues before, but after trying all sorts of things I'm getting a bit desperate. So far I've: Disabled the overclock on the CPU, now running with stock settings Disabled the XMP profile, now running with stock settings Plugged the USB into a different port Checked all data/power connections Booted the server with all RAM (old and new) installed Booted the server with only the old two sticks of RAM Booted the server with only the new two sticks of RAM Upgraded the OS from 6.12.4 to 6.12.6 Switched the "Docker custom network type" setting from "macvlan" to "ipvlan" Booted the server in Safe Mode Booted into Memtest86+, no errors found (tested only the old RAM - 15h with 3 successfull passes) Hardware: MB: MSI Z170A Gaming M3 CPU: Intel Core i5 6600k @ 3.5 GHz GPU: MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming 8GB RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (4x 8GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 SSD: Samsung EVO 970 Plus 1TB HDD: 2x Seagate Exos X20 18TB PSU: Corsair RM 750X Software: OS: Unraid 6.12.6 Plugins installed: Appdata Backup CA Auto Turbo Write Mode CA Auto Update Applications CA Mover Tuning Community Applications Dynamix Auto Fan Control Dynamix File Manager Dynamix System Buttons Dynamix System Information Dynamix System Statistics Dynamix System Temperature Enhanced Log Viewer Fix Common Problems GUI Search Parity Check Tuning Tips and Tweaks Unassigned Devices Unassigned Devices Plus Unassigned Devices Preclear User Scripts Docker containers installed: Pihole Jellyfin Jellyseer Gluetun VNP qBittorrent Prowlarr Radarr x3 Lidarr Sonarr Bazarr Homarr MusicBrainz-Picard Navidrome VMs installed: Windows 10 with GPU passthrough Here is a list of the last crashes I've noted: 03.01,2024. 21:37 03.01.2024. 19:10 02.01.2024. 22:52 02.01.2024. 13:40 01.01.2024. 23:31 27.12.2023. 21:22 26.12.2023. 12:19 25.12.2023. 13:14 25.12.2023. 13:07 25.12.2023. 00:29 You can find the diagnostics ZIP and the Syslog from the last three weeks attached below. 3. Hi @david279, Thank you for your reply. I was hoping not to run MacOS on bare metal. Just to have a bit more control over the OS so an update doesn't mess up the installation. I realise this is quite a niche requirement, but you can't blame me for trying If anyone has any additional input, feel free to share. Cheers.
  4. Hi ghost82, Thank you for your prompt reply. So even though you could run MacOS on a AMD CPU and make it think you are using a Xeon, when it comes to extra features like in my case nested virtualization, there is no workaround ? That's dissapointing So I guess my first choice for an Intel CPU with 16 cores, would be the i9 9960X. It seems I just can't get away from Intels 14nm processors. If you have any other thoughts or ideas, please feel free to share. Kind regards.
  5. Hello everyone, I want to build a new workstation for work and play. The general idea of the workstation is to allow me to run Linux/Windows/MacOs on the same box, and switch between them depending on the use case. Linux - as my default OS Windows - as my gaming OS MacOS - as my work OS The first two I know how to setup, but the third one gets slightly more complicated. As a mobile developer I need to be able to run multiple Simulators/Emulators of Mobile Devices inside MacOS, so I don't have to own multiple physical devices for debugging. Questions: 1. Is this even possible at this moment in time ? I've already tried to make this run on a i5 6600k just to see if it would work. I've installed Macinabox and booted my MacOS instance, but as soon as I opened Android Studio, and wanted to start an emulator, I was greeted with the message "Your CPU does not support VT-x". I've already seen posts on the forum about enabling VM nesting in UNRAID, but this didn't help. 2. What hardware would you recommend ? I'm looking at the Ryzen 9 5950X, but since we are in the concept phase this is subject to change. Any input is much appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards.
