LSI or m.2 to Sata expansion card
Hey everyone, Currently I have 12 3.5 HDDs in my setup connected via 2x 9211-8i LSI cards. I have mounted a fan in the case to keep these cool as they seem to generate a fair amount of heat even when not under load. They also take quite a long time to initialize on boot. I stumbled across some M.2 to Sata expanders online (example - https://tinyurl.com/3ejchyas) and thought I would get a couple to test out on a spare pc. To my surprise, they actually seem to work quite well and post a lot quicker than the LSI cards. Just wondering, would there be any disadvantages to using these adapters for my setup as opposed to the current LSI cards? All I use my unraid server for is NAS storage. My docker and VMs run on a separate machine using proxmox. Thanks in advance :)

Server keeps dropping out
Thanks for looking at that for me JorgeB, you're my friend, are a legend! Following this, I decided to do factory reset on my router (swear I've tried that in the past before) and, so far all is looking good. Hopefully it stays like that for a while! Paid a shit load for the router I'm using hoping it would handle lots of local transfers. Safe to say, I reckon I'll be giving netgear a pass when I do finally decide to grab a new one.

Server keeps dropping out
Yeah, probably 5 or 10 mins after the last drop out happened

Server keeps dropping out
Hey guys, Not sure if I have come to the right section but am having issues with my unraid server frequently dropping out and looking for some guidance. I cant tell if it is my router or the actual server thats having the issue. If I can either fix the server or eliminate it as the problem then maybe look at replacing or diagnosing the router further. When trying to transfer files from my PC and/or macbook the connection to the server drops out and the file transfer fails. No always, but enough to be a pain. When this happens, I cannot access the GUI over network either. This also when streaming content on plex and the media server says the file is no longer available. When this happens, the connection usually only stops for a couple of minutes, then is back up and running again without having to reboot either the server or my router. I just cant figure it out... - I have set a static IP set for the server on my router (Nighthawk RAX200) - happens over wireless and wired connections - do have a network switch (edimax gs-1005be) - the server is connected to the router as follows router>switch>server - no issues with any other devices accessing the internet or RPD between other machines when the server drops out Please let me know if I need to provide any additional info :) tank-diagnostics-20240613-2154.zip

Windows 10VM wont recognise GPU
Hey there, thanks heaps for taking the time to look a this. After some digging around and following your advise, I've finally managed to get it working! ❤️ (p.s. any advise on how to reduce lag on windows RDP, or is there a better program out there that can help with this? Not a huge bother but, If I can make things smoother that I'm all for it)

Windows 10VM wont recognise GPU
Hey guys, Not sure if I've come to the right place but I'm stumped! Still quite new to the unraid scene. I have been trying to get my 2070 to passthrough to a Win10 VM. I initially had trouble as the gup was stuck in an IOMMU group with other devices. After watching a video by SpaceInvaderOne (this guys is a bloody legend btw!!!) ( youtu.be/qQiMMeVNw-o ) I managed to get my GPU into a group of its own and stop crashing the server when trying to assign it to a VM. To do this I had to enable ACS override downstream, multifunction Now the VM boots and on the VM screen it appears that its assigned but when launching into the VM it doesn't register in device manager or task manager. I could just be a potato doing something completely wrong but, cant figure it out for the life of me. Also, I did try moving the GPU into different PCI slots hoping that would be a simple fix. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated! :) tank-diagnostics-20230426-1930.zip
