THE INTRO:
My server ran fairly stable for about a year and a half, then ceased to start up. I recently cannibalized my other desktop's PSU and graphics card and managed to get it to start up (it had been shutting down 2 seconds after hitting the power button). I've tweaked a million BIOS settings to turn off things I'm not using (audio, parallel/serial ports, etc.), and make sure that it's booting from the flash drive. All of this took an eternity, but here I am, everything should be good to go, right?
THE ISSUE:
I get to the screen where I select unRAID OS or Memtest86+. It loads bzimage and bzroot. Success! So far.
On the next screen, all kinds of startup posting that I can't read flashes across the screen, and then...the computer turns off.
OR I've also seen it hang on the line "scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices". See attached image for everything that was visible on the screen at that hang.
Ideas, anybody?
