  1. Swapping from i440fx to q35 has helped a lot - the USB controller works reliably now. The VM as a whole feels more reliable too but even watching YouTube will break things within 10-15 minutes. I got a proper bluescreen once or twice with the VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR message but that seems to be pretty generic and again, doesn't happen when booting directly into Windows so seems to be something to do with the VM or passthrough. I've also tried dumping the VBIOS from windows on bare metal instead of the one I downloaded from Tech Powerup but that hasn't helped any.
  2. I'm having issues with PCI-e passthrough to Windows 10. All my devices 'work', they show up and function to some capacity but I'm having a lot of stability issues in my VM. It worked reasonably well for about a week but now I'm having more and more issues. I'm currently trying to pass through a few things: 1. An NVMe controller for the main system drive. 2. A USB controller to try to get hotplug support. 3. An ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Turbo EVO card that I repurposed from another computer that has been solid for a year or so. There are no virtual disks in this setup - other storage is being shared over SMB and that's sufficient for my use case. The USB controller has never worked properly in the VM. It can't handle more than 1-2 devices before they stop working and only one device works at a time. In the last few days, the whole VM has become unstable - the display shuts off, and a minute later the VM locks up entirely. I can force stop the VM from my phone and restart it and everything comes back up only to crash again. It usually crashes within 15-30 minutes of anything more strenuous than the login screen. Windows Event Log often has nothing in it leading up to the crash but when it does it's generic messages about the NVidia driver/card. I've done a full pass in memtest86 and since the NVMe controller is passed through i can boot Windows on bare metal as well. I ran a full 30 minute stability test in Cinebench and then a 20 minute burn in test in 3D Mark. Thermals are fine, CPU doesn't go above 62C even with a Cinebench multicore stress (I'm not OCing either CPU or GPU). On bare metal, the USB controller seems fine too. I haven't stressed it, but plugging in all the devices I have didn't produce any noticeable glitches where on the VM it's almost instantly broken even while plugging in. As far as I can tell all the hardware checks out and is solid, it's just the VM struggling and I'm not sure what to do here now. Currently I'm passing through all my USB devices manually using motherboard slots because the controller is just not an option, even though I'm still technically passing it through at the moment. lspci: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
