I've been encountering difficulties with my Unraid setup, where multiple new disks are reporting errors despite showing no SMART errors. These disks are simply being flagged as faulty. To troubleshoot, I purchased an additional disk to determine if the disks themselves were the problem. However, the issue persists.
I've tried connecting the disks directly to the motherboard, bypassing the HBA, but the same error persists. I've also attempted using a new HBA, but the issue remains.
I suspect that the motherboard's SATA controller might be the culprit. My motherboard only supports 6 SATA devices, and when I attempt to connect 7, I encounter numerous errors and the system becomes sluggish. This is despite 4 of the disks being connected through an HBA.
Could the limitations of the motherboard's controller be causing these issues?
