Silly question, I know, but how do I generate diagnostics from a system that will not boot?

I think it's probably better to start again from scratch. I have just switched all my PCs onto Linux, so I need to generate a new boot drive. The original server was based on a 1st gen Threadripper, the next one is a 3rd gen Theadripper. I know it is all transferable, but it was originally running VMs. The new system is another level for me. I don't mind starting over, I have the time.
