  1. I was a little skeptical at first but the more I read, the better it sounds. I doubt it'll replace anything I already have but it would be a great addition to the home environment for automated backups, password sync, etc. There's a bunch more info here: http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/whs_preview.asp Sounds like its not strictly RAID but will allow for dynamic addition of drives and a single share for each type of media (music, pictures, videos...). I like this quote: It also supports Windows Media Connect so any UPnP capable device should be able to stream content off it (they mentioned Roku Soundbridge specifically in the interview with the product manager on the Media Center podcast). Of course it's not coming out for a while so I'm sure things will change a lot by the time its released.
  2. Getting SlimServer running on unRAID is the only thing stopping me from jumping on the bandwagon at this point. If there's a beta I can test, let me at it. I'd much rather have an expandable solution like unRAID than a drive-limited Infrant. I currently run Slimserver on my main PC and have a couple devices using it. I did have to upgrade to 6.5.1 to avoid some crashes that seem to be caused by a firmware upgrade on my Roku Soundbridge.
  3. Can you guys give a little more info on how you got unRAID working with VMWare? I created an IMA using WinImage and couldn't even get VMWare Server to boot off of it. I'm doing something wrong, just not sure what. Also, you mentioned editing the ethernet config... is this in a unRAID config file? Or in VMWare setup somewhere? I'd really just like to get things set up so I can play with unRAID a bit before shelling out money for a PC. thanks!
