I'm currently debating rebuilding my existing Snapraid + MergerFS build to Unraid, but i'm very concerned with the 2 parity disk limitation. I currently have 25 storage disks with 5 parity disks. I'm considering using Unraid pools to help add parity with a setup similar to this:
Pool1
8 data disks
2 parity disks
Pool2
8 data disks
2 parity disks
Pool3
8 data disks
2 parity disks
However looking at how shares are created in Unraid it doesn't appear shares can span across multiple pools, is that correct? So a share called /storage couldn't represent data across all three pools, similar to how MergerFS is working?
I'd love some additional input here from anyone doing something similar.
