  1. Found about 20-30 folders where the files where renamed to "w[w[" with no extension. The folder name and the underlying files seem fine -- a simple rename fixes the problem. These are recent additions so I thought it may be something with mover, but logs really don't show anything amiss. Hoping to determine if this is a symptom of a problem. Any thoughts?
  2. Any tangible improvemnt going from 2xAOC-SASLP-MV8 to 2 of these? Will x8 controller make a difference>
  3. Haven't decided on the cooling. When I read the topic I took notes of what other people were using when they mentioned a specific product and the Noctua i4 CPU was the most frequently mentioned. Newegg.ca is sold out and while I did find a small local shop that has them in stock they want 2.5x the price which is a tad ridiculous. I've order the PSU and case from Newegg no tracking number yet but I get Natex combo Thursday so I'd like to have everything by then. For that to happen I really need to pull the trigger on something today but I was waiting for input from this topic on if extra cooling is required or not. The i4 (NH-U9DXi4) is a great cooler! I picked up one from newegg.ca and one from amazon.ca and amazon was significantly faster in getting it shipped. Fits well in a Norco 4224 and very straightforward in installation.
  4. I'm get Clover exiting with a failed installation every time. Is the hard drive formated to use GUID or MBR?
  5. Jdownloader2 specific question. I wanted to download to the cache and then have mover move the files into the download location with the regular mover execution. However, when mover executes it removes the directory and jdownloader will not create directories during download aside from the package specific directory. I'm thinking that un-archiving would be best done on the cache drive. Any thoughts or possible work arounds people have used?
  6. Got the VM up and running great guide! With tightVNC i could not get the mouse to work in any reasonable fashion. The best remote option i found where the mouse would cooperate was no machine remote desktop. (https://www.nomachine.com/download/download&id=13) The mouse was so bad I couldn't get no machine installed until I passed through a usb keyboard/mouse. If anyone was stuck like I was do the following to pass through keyboard mouse: 1. Telnet to unraid box and run "lsusb" 2. Locate your keyboard/mouse combo or individually (could get away with just a mouse) Output should be similar to: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver 3. Add the following to your xml and modify based on your lsub output (see colors) <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='yes'> <source> <vendor id='0x046d'/> <product id='0xc52b'/> </source> </hostdev>
  7. @essjay I had the same thing/concern where it said vt-d was disabled. Check the cpu section of the bios where you enable it and then it will change to enabled. I'll check exact menu in a few
  8. Big thanks to Shamalamadindong, Drider, and everyone else that has provided input in this thread. Got my box setup (dual cpu, 64gb ram, 850 ps) and everything seems stable. I'm just running it through it's paces right now. I had one question about core temps. I'm using the Noctua NH-U9DXi, which are solid, and my CPU temps at idle are 37/39. During full load (prime 95) it is stable at 62/71. What is the experience of temp differential between cpu1 and cpu2 for others? I checked the seating on cpu 2 and it's proprly tightened. I might have put a little extra thermal paste on cpu2 but not sure. Cpu1 exhausts onto Cpu2 so part of the increase would be based on that. Also right now the case is open with no fan wall, and no rear fans. Question about ram as well. Someone posted 64gb at a good price at natex. Is there a concern if I pick up an additional 64 gb there? Or is it best to go back to cloudninja's to find a matching set. Note for anyone buying anew Norco 4224 they come with the os tray and 120mm fans now. I'll check the temps once I have reinstalled the fan brackets (with new fans) and upgraded the rear fans. Thanks!

Last time Newegg had it at this price was Nov 2015, and current average price appears to be $159.99 across a few vendors. http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Mar-0-2016/WE-EXPRESS_05/index-landing.html
  10. Check out the PSU tier list. Both are ranked tier one. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
  11. Seems a few more boards might be back in stock at newegg for anyone looking. Newegg.ca http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157350&_ga=1.264325583.1725455903.1431643741 Newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157350
  12. PSU question for the Asrock/Xenon build. I got 16 drives + 2 ssd cache pool. I was thinking of throwing in at least 1 older geforce 760 GTX and maybe a 5450 to play around with some vms. I've powered 14 drives with a Corsair hx650. It lacks a eps connector and more than 2 pci-e connectors. What would be ideal power wise? Corsair RM850i W or RM1000i W? Both include 2 EPS connectors and 6 x PCI-E Connectors. CORSAIR RM850i 850W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply Nvidia Sli ready and crossfire support with C-link http://www.ncix.com/detail/corsair-rm850i-power-supply-zero-d6-109971.htm Corsair RM1000I Power Supply Zero RPM Silent Operation +12V 80+GOLD Modular 7 Years Warranty http://www.ncix.com/detail/corsair-rm1000i-power-supply-zero-a4-109972-1307.htm Same price right no (1000i has a $20 mir). Thanks!
  13. The web gui is very straight forward and just requires 2-3 clicks to powerdown/reboot.
  14. I guess I would also like an opinion on the Asrock EP2C602. It lacks the "-4L" so only 2 lan ports and only 8 memory slots. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157352&cm_re=EP2C602-_-13-157-352-_-Product
  15. Any suggestions on this Tyan motherboard? TYAN S7050GM2NR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813151300&cm_re=TYAN_S7050GM2NR-_-13-151-300-_-Product Board has 6 SATA and 8 SAS connectors. My understanding is SAS drives require a certain type of connector, anyone able to clarify if they would be used for sata drives off a Norco 4224 backplane -- something like a reverse breakout cable? Thanks!
  16. Read through the post last night and ready to jump in this morning. However, between last night when I read the thread to this morning Newegg sold out of the Asrock motherboard. Any other options or vendors for this motherboard?
  17. I ended up going from a Corsair 500W PSU to a Corsair HX650 PSU, and improved the cabling a bit. It has been 4-5 days and no errors.
  18. Had a write error disabling the disk (syslog attached). It showed up as no device after stopping the array (not sure if that means much). Any ideas? I'm thinking of replacing the power supply. syslog_sept_7_2014.zip
  19. Need some advice. I've been using unraid for ages but can't figure out an error related to disk 6/7 on in my system. A few times recently I have come back and the reads and writes on disk 6/7 are crazy (millions -- could just be ui). I've replaced both drives with thoroughly precleared drives. The error I'm seeing in syslog is "Sep 5 10:45:47 Olympus kernel: Buffer I/O error on device md7, logical block 285". I replaced both disk 6/7 in the last few months. Screenshot of Device Status and syslog included. Googling some posts I think it may be be a power supply or possibly sata cable to the supermicro aoc sata card issue. Any thoughts on the ideal power supply wattage for 12 drives? System is sitting powered down just in case, but I can pull smart reports if it will help. Thanks for the help in advance! 20. Need some advice. After using -S and a data recovery software I think I got off as much as I could. Any flaws in what I plan on going forward that anyone can identify: 1) Remove the disk 2) Run initconfig to reset config based on array less the missing disk and rebuild parity to bring the array back online 3) Set 4k Aligned and preclear the disk a few times and if all good reinsert the disk into the array (I don't think the disk is bad) Thanks!
  21. After reading that a -rebuild-tree was the next course of action I proceed with it. Drive used to show 76 GB free and now shows 1.3TB free (of 1.5TB drive). Files that showed they were there with the corruption are gone with the corruption fixed. Lost+found has about 200GB in it but no idea about the rest. Most files in lost found are useless. Ideas? Or the data toast
  22. Syslog attached (I had shut it down earlier so I don't see similar errors in the syslog). However, I reran reiserfsk but copy to clipboard didn't grab everything. It's a lot of: "the problem in the internal node occured (323125249), whole subtree is skipped / 81 (of 144|/ 33 (of 170/block 323321857: The level of the node (0) is not correct, (1) expected " similar to what was above. I've copied the ending output below: the problem in the internal node occured (129990657), whole subtree is skipped / 57 (of 94|/ 35 (of 170\block 246022145: The level of the node (0) is not correct, (1) expected the problem in the internal node occured (246022145), whole subtree is skipped finished Comparing bitmaps..vpf-10640: The on-disk and the correct bitmaps differs.
