  1. It was used for 6 months. I will include the two cables needed. $85 plus $7 shipping
  2. Odds are you will need to set a new initial disk configuration... (if you've removed disks, it is definitely needed) You will probably need to stop the array and use the initconfig command to set a new initial disk configuration. Using it will immediately invalidate parity calculated on the old disk configuration. When you start the array parity will be calculated on the new disk configuration. for any more guidance, you will need to attach a system log and provide more detail on the original disks in the array, those removed, and the final disk configuration. i did the initconfig when i removed the drives. I didnt think i would have to do it again for just moving the assignments.
  3. So i wanted to reassign my disk11 to disk8 since i have removed some drives. I stopped the array, unassigned 11 and assigned it to 8. I go back to the main screen to start the array and it states Stopped. Invalid expansion. Any advice? I am running 4.7.
  4. Running 4.7. I am replacing a supermicro aoc-saslp-mv8 with an intel Sasuc8i. I flashed the intel card with the lsi it firmware.
  5. I want to replace the sata controller in my unraid box. Its my understanding that unraid will pull the serial numbers for the drive so I will be ok swapping the card right? Do I have to do anything special?
  6. I have 11 disks in my array. Disk 9 is unassigned. I would like to move disk 11 to disk9's place. How can I safely do this? Thanks!
  7. So I got a red dot on disk 9. Is there anyway to remove disk 9 and never use it, also building parity back up?
  8. thanks again guys. one other quick question...what is the best way to test each Hard drive for possible failures? HDParm?
  9. so i can just telnet in with my login? are there any risks to running initconfig.....i dont want to lose my data.
  10. Short answer - you can't easily remove a drive from an array. Remember that all of the drives in the array work together to provide parity protection. If you remove a drive unRAID will simulate its contents. That is the behavior you are seeing. There are two ways to accomplish what you want to do ... 1 - Remove the drive and re-initialize the array. Parity protection will be lost until you re-build parity (which can take many hours). It is best to do a full parity check before doing this to help ensure that one of the other drives doesn't croak while parity is being rebuilt. 2 - There is a way that you can zero out a drive. See post HERE if you are interested in this technique. From where you are now, you can press the restore button (or run initconfig with newer unRAID versions) to reinitialize the array. Then rearrange your drives in the slots as you like to eliminate the gap you are leaving. Then start the array and it will rebuild parity. Your array won't be protected until parity is completely built. Thanks, but i dont see a restore option. Do I have to phyically remove the drive? I only unassigned it. The start/stop button was there, but no "check" for parity.
  11. I stopped the array. I chose to unassign disk9. i started the array. It says disk9 is not installed and that the array is unprotected until i replace it. I am running 4.6. Please help me! thanks
  12. got it...so I would copy movies to disk1 and disk2. I would copy data to disk3 and disk4. Then I would put include disk1 and disk2 and exclude disk3 and disk4 for movies and vice versa for data? And manually copy the data where it needs to go.
