  1. Appears to have room for 6 SATA drives. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-2950-3-2Ghz-Dual-Core-4GB-2-5-SAS-SATA-DVD-Tested-/220913512650?pt=COMP_EN_Servers&hash=item336f78b0ca
  2. I figured it out. I guess I had a corrupted file in the root of the share. Removed that and everything is ok.
  3. Ok I ran both those commands and it looks like it changed all my dir and files but I'm still have the same issue.
  4. Any idea why my files are getting like this? Can these issues only be issued on the disks or can they be issued on the shares?
  5. Something I just noticed. The other thing I was doing yesterday is a massive conversion of my video_ts folders to ISOs . When I did that ls command at the next level /mnt/user/movies I noticed that any directory that had a new iso created in it has different permissions. See below. For instance /TRON is one that I converted. Could this be causing the issue? If so how would I change all the rights at once? drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 TARZAN\ (1999)/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 TARZAN\ And\ JANE/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 160 Jun 23 2008 TERMINATOR\ 2/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 160 Jun 23 2008 TERMINATOR\ 3/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 29 2008 THE\ ANT\ BULLY/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ BOURNE\ IDENTITY/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ CARE\ BEARS\ MOVIE/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 160 May 28 2008 THE\ DARK\ CRYSTAL/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 128 Dec 15 2008 THE\ DARK\ KNIGHT/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 160 May 3 2008 THE\ GOLDEN\ COMPASS/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 THE\ GOONIES/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ INCREDIBLE\ MR.\ LIMPET/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 128 Feb 13 17:56 THE\ MUMMY\ TOMB\ OF\ THE\ DRAGON / drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 THE\ NEVERENDING\ STORY/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ PRINCESS\ BRIDE/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ RETURN\ OF\ THE\ KING/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ ROAD\ TO\ EL\ DORADO/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ RUGRATS\ MOVIE/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 THE\ SANTA\ CLAUSE/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 THE\ SANTA\ CLAUSE\ 2/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 160 Jun 27 2008 THE\ SPIDERWICK\ CHRONICLES/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 THE\ WIZARD\ OF\ OZ/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 TMNT/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 TOMMY\ BOY/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 128 Apr 1 16:14 TOY\ Story/ drwx------ 1 root root 72 Aug 5 11:33 TRON/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 416 Aug 6 19:08 Taken/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 Talladega\ Nights/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 29 2008 The\ ARISTOCATS/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Adventures\ of\ Baron\ Munch ausen/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Adventures\ of\ Elmo\ in\ Gr ouchland/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Bells\ of\ St.\ Mary's/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Book\ of\ Pooh\ Stories\ Fro m\ the\ Heart/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Bourne\ Supremacy/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 144 Apr 30 2008 The\ Bourne\ Ultimatum/ drwx------ 1 root root 144 Aug 6 13:41 The\ Chronicles\ of\ Narnia/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Court\ Jester/ drwx------ 1 root root 96 Aug 5 15:29 The\ EMPERORS\ NEW\ GROOVE/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 The\ Fifth\ Element/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 144 Apr 30 2008 The\ Game\ Plan/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Great\ Mouse\ Detective/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Great\ Outdoors/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Happy\ Elf/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Haunted\ Mansion/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Hunchback\ of\ Notre\ Dame/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Hunchback\ of\ Notre\ Dame\ II/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Hunt\ For\ Red\ October/ drwx------ 1 root root 88 Aug 5 11:59 The\ Incredibles/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ JUNGLE\ BOOK\ 2/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 The\ Jerk/ drwx------ 1 root root 88 Aug 5 14:11 The\ Jungle\ Book/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Karate\ Kid/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Land\ Before\ Time/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 144 Apr 30 2008 The\ Last\ Starfighter/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 30 2008 The\ Legend\ of\ Zorro/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Lion\ King/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Lion\ King\ 1\ and\ a\ half/ drwx------ 1 root root 104 Aug 5 11:58 The\ Lion\ King\ II\ Simba's\ Pri de/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Little\ Mermaid/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 136 Apr 30 2008 The\ Little\ Mermaid\ II\ Return\ to\ the\ Sea/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 24 2008 The\ Lord\ of\ the\ Rings\ The\ F ellowship\ of\ the\ Ring\ Disc\ 1/ drwx--x--x 1 root root 104 Apr 24 2008 The\ Lord\ of\ the\ Rings\ The\ F

I was using Directory Opus to do the copies from a Vista workstation. I don't have any usernames or passwords set up The other shares are working just fine from the Popcorn such as /movietest or /series
  7. Thanks Joe. Fell back but still have the issue on the one share as mentioned in my post above. Any ideas?
  8. I'm thinking I want to go back to 4.4 . Is there a write up about how to fallback?
  9. Looking for help please. I have developed a problem. I have a share called movies. I have it set for read/write. I'm using it with a Popcorn Hour. It was working fine. Today I was moving and adding a lot of files. During one such copy I got a permisson denied. No idea why. A reboot of that machine and I was back to normal. The problem is when I try to access that share with my Popcorn Hour I get a cannot proccess request. According to their forums that usually is caused by a permissions issue. I can access all other shares fine except the one I was doing all the activity on. I've tried unexporting then exporting again, changed it to read only, rebooted both the tower and the popcorn hour multiple times to know avail. I could really use some help with this. I'm able to access the share fine from my PCs just not from the Popcorn which uses linux. It worked fine before.
  10. Ok I'm having another issue. When trying to copy files over to the unraid it will copy for awhile then get an error and can no longer access the disk volume. I've included the syslog of when this happened. Does anyone know what's going on?
  11. Well it's working now. Rebooted 2 times then it just started working.
  12. My user shares are set to read only, but my disk shares are set to read/write but hidden. I write my data directly to disk shares, so I have control over where exactly it goes, but I don't have to worry much about accidentally deleting stuff when I'm just browsing using my user shares. That's the way I used to have it. I just can't figure out why I can't set it that way on this build
  13. Create different users for everyone and then export the user shares as read only, then on the exceptions line just add in your user name. Ok I guess I was looking for a way to do it without having to use login ids and passwords I guess I need to find out also if the inability to change my user shares to read only is a bug in this build or if I have some other issue.
  14. The only thing I can think of is, you have to have the array stopped. Reboot, stop the array, and retry. That is correct. If you stop the array you don't have access to the user shares. How do you have yours set? I had them set to read only before I upgraded without any problem. Is anyone running it with user shares set to read only? On 4.4.2 I have my shares set to read only with exceptions set for myself so I can write to them and no one else in the house. How are you able to have exceptions for yourself? I didn't see any way to assign different rights.

  16. Running 4.5 beta 6 and I'm trying to change my user shares to read only. I select it then hit apply but it doesn't change. Is anyone else having this problem? Also if I understand this correctly by having the DISK shares set to read write it will allow me to write to Disk1 Disk2 Disk3.... and so on. Is this correct?
  17. I have pretty much the same thing although re-branded. The top slot failed pretty quick for me, so I'm only using 4 drives. There may be a bit of a bottle neck when doing parity if you're using all 5 drives over SATA 2 on a PCI-e 1x slot which would be 250/5=50mbytes/sec per drive minus overhead. I still find the whole idea of having it separate from the server a little awkward. Stock cooling fans were uselessly loud and 15mm, I replaced them with fairly silent ones mounted using the same holes but externally with grills which reduced the noise significantly while still maintaining 5-10C above ambient. I'm in the process of replacing the 8 400 GB drives I have in my server with 1.5 TB ones. I was thinking of this kind of case as a place to use the old 400 GB ones.
  18. So has anyone bought one of these and implemented it? If so how's it working?
  19. It's possible, with the huge number of changes that occur in each Linux kernel release, that a compatibility issue will arise with a particular release and specific hardware components, and then be resolved in a later release. In this case, reverting back to a previous release, and awaiting a future release is correct. But it is also possible that a bug has been introduced with an unRAID release, but with only rare effects, and it would be good to see it resolved too. That can only be done by assistance from one or more of the specific users affected by it. I do understand that many users do not have the time and/or interest in helping, but such a rare issue may never be resolved, unless someone steps up, to at least provide some detail. I would like to encourage anyone who has experienced an issue that has caused them to revert, especially an issue that does not appear to be handled yet, to consider doing a little exploratory testing, to report symptoms and error messages and relevant syslogs, along with their specific hardware setup. A bug that only affects a few users is not likely to ever be resolved, if no one does any reporting or testing. I'm not trying to lay a guilt trip here, just remind people of the reality of software development, especially with a relatively small user base. I'd be willing to provide what ever info that would be helpful but will need some instructions on the gathering of said info. How are you guys doing a memory test to see if that's the issue?
  20. Was running version 3.X up until a few weeks ago. This thing was rock solid. I did an upgrade to 4.5 beta 6 and since then I've been averaging the server going down at least 1 time a week. Is this happening to anyone else?
  21. Thanks for the replies. I was just coming back to let everyone know that it's working now. I had to move the card to a different slot to get it to work. The only thing that screwed me up is Linux moved my 4 new drives into the addresses that were previously occupied by the 4 drives that were connected to my onboard controller. Luckily I new the order or I could have really screwed it up when moving the drives back to their assignments.
  22. I have an Asus P5ld2 motherboard. I'm currently running 4 drives off of the built in SATA controller. I purchased a Promise SATA300 TX4 controller and 4 more drives. I shutdown the server, installed the card, connected the drives and restarted the server. When I go into the console the 4 new drives don't show up under DEVICES. I thought the unraid system would see them but they don't. Is there another step I need to do to get them to show up or is there something I can check to see if there is an error? Please help.
  23. Well deal must be dead. Link doesn't work anymore. Did anyone besides me get an order in? I got an email that said my order went through.
