  1. +one for this. I tried making 3 partions in a Windows machine but UD seemed to not be willing to work with them. The 3 parts displayed but I could not mount them.
  2. The scenario in the OP is EXACTLY what happened to my V6 cache setup documented herehttp://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=44636.msg427103#msg427103 Jonp thought it was a bug then and asked for diagnostics. My cache pool consisted of 2 new SSD's untouched by any other filesystem
  3. All working with an Intel NIC, thanks for all your help guys, Unraid and this community is awesome.
  4. I disabled the M/B Lan in the BIOS now the setup doesn't recognize any Lan card, yet I can still get network access through it using Parted/Firefox. I'm using a fresh install of V6 USB, have also tried V5 , results are the same, just the loopback setup shown under ifconfig
  5. Fresh install will not set up networking I had a test server running well on V6 and the motherboard lan port died. I have installed a Lan card and I verifed it works by booting Parted Magic from a USB stick and connecting to the internet using Firefox. When Unraid does it's setup it waits for a minute "waiting for carrier", then continues only to end with cannot obtain IP address. I have completed this process with 3 different Lan cards, same result. I have also used a new config/fresh install on a different USB stick, same result. I have tried adding the new mac address to network.cfg, same result I have erased the old static address from the router also. I'm really stuck on this one. Any ideas? tower-diagnostics-20160109-1030.zip
  6. Ok thanks for that, but I don't think it's going to work because if I remove the SSD that looks like it's not being used and power up again with just cache 2 in use the dockers don't work indicating that the SDD that looks like it's not in use is actuality being used for something. It's looks like I might have to redo the cache pool from the beginning or maybe I do have a proper cache pool and it's a reporting issue?
  7. Can someone confirm the process above in post #2 will get me out of this cache problem
  8. Here is the diagnostics, I'll wait for the review of them before I proceed with any solution. Thanks for the quick replies! unraid-diagnostics-20151212-0832.zip
  9. I have moved to V6 with no problem other than the cache pool does not look right. Comparing it to screenshots in other posts with cache pool problems it looks like only one SSD is formatted and being used. I am using 2 new Sandisk 128g SSD's and installed them together, on boot up I selected an extra cache slot and assigned both at the same time. They also will not "balance" and I get the "unable to start balance with target data profile 16" message on the syslog. Should I have installed the SSD's one at a time? The manual is unclear on this. Any help and guidance is appreciated.
  10. Alrighty...figured it out for anyone else with this problem. I used a " in the new password and I'm guessing it's not cool to do that as a password with no punctuations worked just fine. Must be a Linux thing, though I haven't seen it documented anywhere, it's early days for me down the Linux rabbit hole.
  11. I've tried to change the root password from the GUI with no success, I end up having to delete the passwd and shadow files on the flash drive. Using v5.0.5 with a cache drive, here's what I do, select users in the GUI, select root, type in new password twice click "change" a security login box comes up on Win7, I enter root and new password and it doesn't take, after several attempts I'm locked out. Same thing on the terminal console. I tried "enter" on the password field as I had no password previously, but same result. You must be able to change the root password in the GUI, but I can't.
  12. #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & /boot/unmenu/uu cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c Thanks Joe, the learning continues
  13. I just install nano to my testbox and I noticed all these unmenu entries, I'm guessing I don't need them all, just 1 to start unmenu.? #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility installpkg /boot/extra/nano-2.2.4-i486-1.txz /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & echo "/boot/unmenu/uu" >> /boot/config/go /boot/unmenu/uu cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu /boot/unmenu/uu
  14. I'm a happy Unraid user for about 2 years now running 5.0 beta14. Like this fellow here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=20375.0 I negelected to configure users shares when I got Unraid going. I have a free version running and want to step up to a licenced version and a cache disk. I've been running as root all this time in my ignorance. My share setup is simple with 3 top level folders, but when I examine the drives 2 shares are spread across 2 drives. Can I just add a user and retain the same share structure? any help is appreciated. George
  15. I don't see how I can do this as the drive does not get assigned now, it is just missing in the unraid main menu and I'm assuming the bios is not seeing it. What I'm wondering now is if I can put back the old 320g drive and check/correct parity while I think about what might have happened.
