  1. yes. the drives has the 3.3v pin so i used them instead of taping off the drives. ill replace them and see if that helps.
  2. yes. i have 3x StarTech SATA 4 plug splitter and each one has a y splitter to power the 5th drive in each of the 3 rows of drives. each row of 5 drives has its own plug on the psu which is a Thermaltake Toughpower 750w module psu.
  3. Hi, I am having issues with unraid server. Over the last couple months I keep getting disks with read errors and it kicks the drive to Unassigned Devices until I restart the device. I have had this with several different drives. I will remove the drive put it in a test server and do not get this issue. I put a new drive into the system to copy the data from the old drive to the new one. I just did this yesterday again and in the middle of copying data another drive gave errors. I restart the computer and now another drive says its missing that was working. I am at my wits end. Any ideas of what I can replace in hopes to fix this? Things I have tried. 1 I replaced the sata cables. 2 I got a expander card for the raid card to bypass the sata controller on the mother board. 3 I have replaced the sas cables for the raid card. 4 unplugged and replugged everything multiple times. filestorage-diagnostics-20231230-1636.zip
  4. in the meantime i started a read test. 70% in so far with zero read errors. i am hoping it was just the raid card.
  5. I was having issues with two drives. Both showed errors in the main unraid section to a point where I couldn’t access them. Shut the system down replaced both disks but I was having issues with content disappearing. I pulled the raid card and there was a small darken section on it. Swapped it out and everything has been fine since. Question should I just put those two drives back in thinking the errors was because of the raid card? I set up a test system. Toss the one drive in. The smart data is attached. This was the one that had the most errors. I downloaded a couple random things to test and each one played fine. testing-smart-20230624-1839.zip
  6. swapped out the psu and its been stable for over a day. thank so much for your help.
  7. looks like i did have that going. it was 25mb. grabbed the last few hours. current run time is 48 mins on the unraid server. syslong.txt
  8. thanks. i thought i had turned that on. ill try replacing the psu later today.
  9. I have had unraid for about a year now. Last week we had a power outage. I have bought a ups but the batteries needed to be replaced so it wasn’t set up yet. I had it on a surge protector. That day the system shut down randomly two other times. Since then, it turned off once. Before the power outage I never had these issues. For the last week or so its been soft booting several times a day. For example, right now the uptime has been 30 mins. Is there anything in the log that can tell if this might be software? I have a new power supply and other hardware to swap out but I am not sure its hardware or software issue. filestorage-diagnostics-20230618-1634.zip
  10. Hi, I am trying to make sure I have everything covered. I believe I have a permission issue with open media vault but want to make sure I am not missing something with unraid. I set up my shared folder with smb. On windows I am able to write to it. I use omv for my download box and unraid as file storage system. When I set up remote mount in omv and add as a shared folder I am unable to write to the unraid share in windows. It says I don’t have permission to write. When I am logged into winspc on the omv box I am able to write to the unraid share. I assume it has something to do with permission on the omv system. just trying to double check. thanks
