  1. looks like there may be an update with 4.0b8 that will address the "starting" issue... just thought id point that out in case anyone else is running this MB
  2. update got it all to work except im stuck on "starting..." in the command area all other settings appear to be correct
  3. how did you get it to work? i have same MB and boots perfectly but i cant see it on network lights on nic port light up and ifconfig eth0 results in "error fetching interface information: device not found" using 3.1b2 should i try 4.0? or is there something that i need to configure at the prompt? //tower in firefox results in me going to towerrecords
  4. i havent checked recently but i doubt they addressed the DVI port issue i had with my a8nvm-csm thats in my htpc.... dvi out was a no go to my 32" lcd...had to fool around with swapping crt to vga then trying to trick it into working...was a nightmare and disappointing because i bought that model due to the fact that it could do everything...i wound up installing asus' 7600gs silent and disabled onboard video in the bios...havent really looked back...i considered yanking it to use for my unraid server but ive got my htpc just were i want it...and it might not have worked with unraid anyway...seems to be that unraid requires a fairly narrow hardware path unless a person is willing to troubleshoot...being mostly self taught in everything, sometimes i just wanna take the path that others forged if ya know what i mean... lots of venom on asus' forums sometimes but other than that issue theyve been a rock for me... bummer about RMA...i expect i will reboot infrequently as well...ill have to "torture" it a little....i like to "set it and forget it" lol.....at least thats the goal

    Which trays?

ya and its cheaper than an athenatech product that i recall seeing on newegg...perhaps AMS and your brand do share a manufacturer....lots of this is new to me so im not 100% on what to look for in a caddy or backplane but it seemed to have the right capabilities...ill know soon enough how it does...heh

  7. really...that sucks...i hope a quick RMA took care of it i ordered my mobo, cpu and ram today....be awhile before i assemble everything but im looking forward to it... hope i continue having success with corsair tho...
  8. cool... yeah i planned on two sticks for the dual channel....nice to hear that 512MB will do....save a few bucks.... ive used corsair value ram alot and never had issues with performance or compatability...i dont really verclock, not even my gaming machines, so i cant speak to its performance in that regard... thanks for the info.
  9. thanks guys...pretty much answers everything.
  10. One more for you guys, Would you recommend 1GB of RAM or will 512MB suffice? I plan on this build: Asus M2NPV-VM Sempron 3000 4 - 500GB WD (or Sammy) 1GB or 512MB Corsair Value Select DDR2 667 (PC5300) 2-3 clients accessing at the most, all hard wired.
  11. Hi all, Fresh new build, all new stuff... A few questions: 1) I see that the flash drive is to be formated in FAT/FAT32. NTFS is a no go correct? Currently, my SanDisk Cruzer is NTFS but reformatting it to FAT/FAT32 should be a snap right? Its empty currently, and U3 crud is gone. 2) Do the hard drives I use for the array have to be formatted in FAT/FAT32 or NTFS or nothing? Meaning, does the unRaid software format them in whatever it needs, sort of like a NAS appliance might use ext2 or ext3? 3) Once I have the array up and running and I have it configured as my media NAS...if I transfer the music, movies and photos that I currently have on a 250GB drive formatted in NTFS, is this a problem? In short, if the array is to be formatted in FAT/FAT32 or whatever, will I be able to move files onto it from a drive that is NTFS? The drive in question is not going into the array at all and will be repurposed. I vaguely recall that files on an NTFS drive cant be sent to or used on a FAT/FAT32 drive or something like that. Thanks for your patience with n00b questions...I am new to array technology and "servers". be gentle.
