Solutions

  1. NinjaPug's post in Docker no longer able to pull images was marked as the answer   
    Ok so i'm a bit of a dink... I checked my router DNS setting and it was still pointing to my old DNS server... updated the IP and now everything works. 
     
    Update: it was my DNS settings on the router.
     
    Going to leave this here unless an admin wants me to remove it.
