  1. Hello - somewhat UNIX beginner here and looking for assistance on accessing UNRAID shares from LINUX Mint - or any common LINUX distro. Looking at moving off Windows - especially in light of MS new browser polices with Windows 11. Thanks in advance
  2. That was it...internet was down. I have two NICs in the machine and there was conflicting network settings. Removed the 2nd NIC and works 100% now. Thanks everyone! Meerkat
  3. That's a good question - let me double check.
  4. Is there a place to download the beta zip file somewhere? Unable to select "Next" in OS Update under branch. Just reverts to "Stable". Thanks
  5. Bingo! - that fixed it. Thanks Squid But still won't let me select "Next" - odd
  6. There is a button - I used to see it. I talked with another friend who has Unraid and he sees the button also. Tried 3 different browsers - Firefox, Edge and Chrome.
  7. Currently on Unraid 6.8.3 and do not have the Check for updates button on the Tools/UpdateOS page. Clicking on the "Next" drop box under branch reverts back to "Stable". Attempted to boot in safe mode and that did not help. Thanks, Kim
  8. Currently using Unriad Version: 6.7.0-rc7 and I set the MTU under the network settings to 9000. However when I look at the system infromation within the Unraid GUI, the NIC shows "eth0: 10000 Mbps, full duplex, mtu 1500". The MTU does not look correct - not sure I'm missing anything? Observing between 35 and 125mb/sec which is far lower than expected under 10G. On a 10G switch along with likewise configured (9000 MTU) Windows 10 system. Looking at network.cfg: # Generated settings: IFNAME[0]="eth0" DHCP_KEEPRESOLV="no" DHCP6_KEEPRESOLV="no" PROTOCOL[0]="ipv4" USE_DHCP[0]="yes" USE_DHCP6[0]="yes" IFNAME[1]="eth1" PROTOCOL[1]="ipv4" USE_DHCP[1]="yes" MTU[1]="9000" SYSNICS="2" MTU settings look correct in the CFG files. Onboard NIC is unplugged - not able to disable it from BIOS. Syslog attached. Thanks in advance, Kat syslog.txt
  9. Moving the NIC helped. Socket was disabled due to M.2. Thank you tjb_altf4, Kat
  10. I bet that's the problem! Forgot about the nvme and possibly sharing bandwidth with the same slot the 10G NIC is installed. I will try to move it later today and see if that solves it. Manual shows - The PCIEX4 slot becomes unavailable when a device is installed in the M2B_SOCKET connector. Otherwise will post Diagnostic Logs. Thanks, Kat
  11. Hello, Installed ASUS XG-C100C 10GBe NIC which I can confirm is not defective as tested in a Windows 10 system. After booting with Unraid Version 6.7.0-rc7 2019-04-03 the 10G NIC is not recognized and there is no LED activity on the card (CAT 7 installed). Attached Syslog. Any tricks to enabled the NIC? Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. X470 AORUS GAMING 7 WIFI-CF, Version x.x American Megatrends Inc., Version F8 BIOS dated: Fri 25 Jan 2019 12:00:00 AM MST Thanks, Kat syslog.txt
  12. Any trick to getting the Asus card to be recognized? Works 100% on Windows 10 but Unraid doesn't recognize it. On Unraid Version: 6.7.0-rc7. Thanks, Kat
  13. Both new and old Unraid are on latest 6.5.2. I do have a M.2 Cache drive but not enabled yet in the new build. When I had the M.2 enabled as cache I was receiving warning messages from the motherboard the M.2 drive was getting too hot. This is because the entire new Unraid is sitting outside a case and not ventilated/cooled correctly. Once I'm done copying all the data from old to new and installed the new Unraid in a case I will enable the cache drive. I had to start over with the new raid because I had forgotten to enable XFS-Encryption on the drives. No rush...I will move everything at ease.
  14. Decommissioning my current Unraid server which is stacked using 12 x 3TB drives to a newer Ryzen setup with 6 x 8TB drives. Any suggestions on steps for this move? Create a 30 day trial USB with Unraid 6.5.2. Backup old Unraid USB drive and specifically the registration file. Build the new Ryzen 8TB Unraid with Ryzen patches and duplicate all the shares (names) and filesystems on the new array. Format new 8TB drives on new Ryzen setup and build new parity. Copy all the data from old Unraid to new Unraid (Same destination shares) Erase old Unraid USB drive, load a new clean copy of Unraid 6.5.2 and restore KEY file registered to the old USB thumb drive. Copy the config directory from the new Unraid USB drive to the new USB Unraid drive. Boot Old USB thumb drive with registered key which has new config directory for the new Unraid setup. Hope that makes sense...wondering if I am missing something. I'm at step 5 right now, Thanks, Kat
  15. Update - thought maybe there was an issue with the new USB (32GB FAT32) stick so tried a clean install on previous 2GB (FAT). Reformated old USB 2GB FAT extracted clean 6.2 files and restored config files. Same issue...I am really stumped now Reason why I wanted to clean install is after upgrading to 6.2 the GUI is very slow and log file is full of these entries: Sep 23 10:05:31 Icarus avahi-daemon[5423]: Failed to find user 'avahi'. Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus root: Timeout reached while wating for return value Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus root: Could not receive return value from daemon process. Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus emhttp: shcmd (126): /etc/rc.d/rc.avahidnsconfd start |& logger Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus root: Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD DNS Server Configuration Daemon: /usr/sbin/avahi-dnsconfd -D Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus avahi-dnsconfd[5511]: connect(): No such file or directory Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus avahi-dnsconfd[5511]: Failed to connect to the daemon. This probably means that you Sep 23 10:05:51 Icarus avahi-dnsconfd[5511]: didn't start avahi-daemon before avahi-dnsconfd. Update: Placed these two lines into the passwd file and the GUI is VERY responsive now: avahi:x:61:214:Avahi Daemon User:/dev/null:/bin/false avahi-autoipd:x:62:62:Avahi AutoIP Daemon User:/dev/null:/bin/false Still wondering if anyone knows why the clean install did not work? Would appreciate the help still. Thanks everyone for your help, -Kat
  16. Uploaded - thanks, Kat icarus-diagnostics-20160923-0936.zip
  17. Tried that twice with no luck - FAT32 and did not use quick format. -Kat
  18. Decided to run a clean Unraid 6.2 install on a new USB stick. Formated new USB stick as FAT32 and extracted Unraid 6.2 and made it bootable. First time GUI started after first boot and I requested a new key which I received via email and copied back to the new USB. Copied config over from old USB stick to the new one. Rebooted via the GUI. Now when I boot with the new USB stick I can telnet to the new setup and can see my USB share from Windows but cannot get to the GUI. Attempting to access via http://192.168.1.69 Looks like GUI process is running but I had to start it manually - would not start automatically upon boot. root@Icarus:/var/log# ps -ef |grep emhttp root 5602 1935 0 20:40 pts/0 00:00:00 /usr/local/sbin/emhttp root 7715 1935 0 20:49 pts/0 00:00:00 grep emhttp Tried using Chrome and IE and both browsers just "spin" waiting for a response. I don't see anything obvious in the systlog - (attached). Any help is appreciated, Kat syslog.zip
  19. Solved this problem also by adding my MS/Live user ID and MS/Live password under Users in Unraid and now it works. I was also not able to access my shared Unraid drives. Leave off the @live.com and just the username. -Kat Windows 10 Build 9926 & Unraid 5.06
  20. Experiencing the same issues with Unraid 6.0 beta 10 and not on a VM. GUI is responsive and accessible for 10-15 minutes after a reboot then I can no longer access via IE and/or Chrome. I am running a parity check also - not sure if it's related. Drives still show accessible with no issues but the GUI is not longer responsive unless I reboot. Thanks, Kat
  21. Found out the problem - bad Ethernet cable between the Unraid server and the Windows boxes. Cable that sits in the switch cabinet I didn't think to check. Swapped it out and now I'm getting 65MB/sec transfer rates Thank you everyone for your assistance, -Kat
  22. I see in your sig outlining safe mode. Not finding anything in the Wiki outlining more detail. Can you provide a link on implementation of "safe mode"? Appreciate your time. Kat Safe Mode is in the boot menu. It starts unRAID but skips installation of addons. It was added during the v5 betas. You had to copy the new syslinux to get it. If you didn't, then you can accomplish the same thing by following the instructions in dgaschk's sig, which disables your addons by changing their location (renaming their folders) so the unRAID startup code doesn't use them when it boots. "Reverting to stock" is a good first step in debugging because it eliminates a lot of possible unknowns. Super thanks - will try this later this evening. I don't remember the last time I had a monitor hooked up to the Unraid box -Kat
