    Hi, thanks for the input. i had that MB and CPU for the 40pci lanes and 10SATA + 2 M2. didn't think about the power consumption of SAS card. dont need much transcoding. realizing the cpu is 10 years old, will rethink that.

    Hi, starting using unraid. Homessasistant in vm, win10 in vm for knx and other minor stuff, and plex.(no gaming, 2pc already for that) At my age I have tons of hardware lying around. 5960x 8core with x99mb and 32gb ram Asrock server mb wit 2e2670v2 8core and 98gig ram Good old x5670mb with 12 gb ram, underclocked Lots of SAS cards and old 2 to 4tb HDD and some m.2 and ssd for cache. Which mb will be best? I fear power consumption of my 5960x
