Dashboard page stuck at loading
I reinstalled it and that worked, not sure why the first install was bad, maybe I closed the window too early? Thank you all :)

Dashboard page stuck at loading
My dashboard page is stuck at loading. Is this a known problem or am I I to inpatient? I'm at unraid 7.1.2. just installed unraid connect plugin and entered my "SSO users". it seems to be the right number.

Decommission a hard disk
I have v7.0.1 now. How do I tell the mover that I want to empty a disk onto another and remove it from the array?

Decommission a hard disk
Again. im sure everyone has asked this. When will 7 be out of beta? (not using a beta in my environment)

Decommission a hard disk
Im sure this has been asked alot before. I have one disk in an array that has SMART errors so I want to move everything out of it and take it out of the array, as I dont have party disks im not sure how to do that. Is there no decommission plugin or way to do that? (I have NAS in another house for backup. Please dont go off topic and tell me I should use party disks)

How to re-install VirtManager
Any news on where virt-manager is, why it was removed and if it will come back?

qemu-img convert to QCOW2 not running on Unraid VMs
Thank you. I forgot to update this when I found the solution for me. It was simply to change the disk type. But I have been having problems running VMs. I have to look further into these settings that I had no clue you had/could change. I also very much recommend Virt-Manager. I have still to dive into it, but it looks powerful and easy to use (I hate to use CLI, and script edits).

How to make Virt-Manager default for VMs

Libvirt and QEMU versions
Thank you very much. I love this manager and im utterly amazed Unraid does not have this as the default VM manager. For those not so good at linux (like I am) usually you can use wget to download files, but not this link. So download the file to your computer, then use the Unraid file manager (Dynamix File Manager) to upload the file to the server from your computer. Now I dont know how to navigate to the root directories in the file manager so just put the file in some directory then go to Terminal, find the file and use the command cp my-Virt-Manager.xml /boot/config/plugins/dockerMan/templates-user/my-Virt-Manager.xml I dont know if you have to, but I rebooted Unraid, then go to Docker add container and virt-manager is in the template list.

Libvirt and QEMU versions
Am I doing it wrong? "Need" is very open ended. In a SO and even home you dont want to take the VM offline for minimum adjustments. There is no editing of a running machine, cannot add hard disks, not even change the notes.

Libvirt and QEMU versions
And I did send in a feature request about being able to change the type of HDD when you manually add it (QCOW2 RAW). And showing information about he chosen image. it was not responded to and most likely never will be.

Libvirt and QEMU versions
What is a CA? Where can I find that? I think Unraid is aiming at the SOHO market? But even if its just the home market it would be silly not to try for gold... As far as I can see the existing manager has not improved in a long time, (photos of the thing). Adopt this project, https://github.com/retspen/webvirtmgr it seems to be abandoned. Lightyears easier to adopt this than to spend manhours re-inventing it.

Libvirt and QEMU versions
I cannot find this virt-manager in the APPS, and have no idea how to instal it. But a youtube video I found looks good. Why are they not using this as a default VMs manager in Unraid? I could write a long and detailed feature request list, but this seems to be it, and it's already made for this purpose.

Libvirt and QEMU versions
Libvirt is at version 8.7 from september 2022 in Unraid and the most recent 10.2 from april 2024. QEMU is at version 7.2 from december 2022 in Unraid and the most recent 8.2.2 from mars 2024 There are no security flaws of note in libvirt but there are some nasty ones in QEMU. Most platforms try to quickly address these, if my machines are compromised due to a a unaddressed bug, my working career is over. And Unraids reputation would be very "damaged". Stability is fine and the reason I had to change from Vmware, GPU passthrough is working. But confidence in the platform very low for me. Also the VM GUI in Unraid is so underpowered and bad that I am amazed. Have the developers never seen Vmware?

Libvirt and QEMU versions
I noticed that Libvirt and QEMU are out of date and very much out of date. Is there a reason? Do we have to update ourselves?

Add drop down menu for image type when using manual location
Could you add a drop down menu to the manual location for vdisk type (like when using auto). Now it defaults to RAW and I have to edit it in XML view to set it to another format. I could even automatically select the correct vdisk type 💥 As an added bonus it would be excellent to add a info button that gives you information about the vdisk at hand.

eth0 missing after unscheduled power off
I have been unable to get a systemlog server to work with Unraid. I tried Visual Syslog server on Windows. It never received anything. But should "mirror syslog to flash" work just the same? and I have "local syslog rotation" disabled. why was it still overwriting the logs? But the problem is mute now. This only happens when the computer has had an unscheduled power off. And that seems to be fixed now.

Random turn off
I managed to find the fault. It was badly applied thermal paste on the CPU. Installed Windows and it soon became clear. Im very disappointed in Unraid for its lack of troubleshooting tools available. Its necessary to have Windows around if there are any problems with the computer running Unraid. (FYI something new I learned about Windows 11, it does not allow itself to be installed on a USB drive for some reason).

eth0 missing after unscheduled power off
But then I cannot access the web interface to get them and my CLI knowlege is highly limited. Is there no setting or something that tells the Unraid server to append to the logs, not to override them?
-
Random turn off
But does Unraid call upon those power controls? I cannot find any information about that.
-
Random turn off
Sadly I don't have a different PSU that has the slightest chance at powering this thing. Does Unraid have any power states (C states I believe its called) that it tries to enter or something like that?
-
eth0 missing after unscheduled power off
I have enabled syslog server. This is a diagnostics file that I uploaded, does that not get logs further back than one reboot? If the Tools/settings/diagnostics just shows one reboot back. What files do I gather from /var/log ? syslog.txt

eth0 missing after unscheduled power off
Yes after a clean shutdown. Does Unraid not keep the logs between reboots?
