    Unfortunately, these solutions didn't help at all with a HGST HUH721010AL4200. Tried covering just the 3rd pin and then tried covering the first 3 pins and still would not spin up on my SAS to SATA connector. The only time they spin up is when I connect them to a RAID card with a backplane. The unfortunate thing is I only have a PERC H700 that will not update the firmware to all it to be used and then only sees it as a 1.1TB drive...and then will not do the firmware update, not being a Dell firmware drive. My other supermicro raid 2108 card only sees it as 1.1TB also, but will also not even allow me to configure it into a VD. And officially both cards cannot be flashed to IT/JBOD mode. So now I have ordered a 9210-8i (beyond what my budget allowed for this project) in the hopes that I can actually use these drives.
