Hello -
I'm thinking about moving to unRAID and have been checking out the docs, etc. in anticipation of doing so. My use case would involve using SSDs and HDDs on a small form factor system that I already own. Essentially, I would have a pool of SSDs that would store Docker container/VM files as well as newer, more recent files. The drives would be mirrored. Excepting the VM/Docker files, after a certain amount of time from the last write (e.g., 3 months), I would like to configure the system to move the files from the SDD pool to the HDD array (which would have a parity disk). It seems that, for user shares, a primary and secondary location can be selected, but is the mover capable of moving files using the type of cadence that I described?
Separately, as the system would be a small form factor system, with limited expandability, I will only be able to use 2 SATA HDDs out of the box. I'd like to expand that number to 4 with the use of a PCIe expansion card; the motherboard has a PCIe Gen 4 x16 slot. Are there any cards that people have found to work well with unRAID as well as any cards/controllers to avoid?
Thanks for your help!
