Sorry if this was answered in the forums before, but I wonder if there is a difference in where and how ZFS Compression is set. So I added a single SSD to the pool and turned on Compression on the disk (I left the name as Cache from when I was using Unraid array parity + ssd cache, not a great name). But I noticed when I created a dataset on the cache pool, I could set the compression for the dataset, which I choose zstd. So which compression algorithm is being used when I write things to the zfsCache dataset? And is it doing compression twice? Does the compression setting in the dataset take precedence over the compression setting in the pool? I assume it is zstd, and any new datasets created on that pool will use the default unless a compression algorithm is specified. Sorry if my questions seem dumb or if I'm overthinking it.
