You need to use megarec to wipe the sbr and reflash bios. Once you can get this done your system will see the card. The cards flash is corrupt or got zeroed.

May we see some pics of the fractal design define xl with supermicro 5x3 mod?

I used the Norco 3x5 with a fan mod which was pretty straight forward to do. I can't talk to the other models. I like the flexibility of sata/sas drive support. You can get the Norco for $80 here in SoCal. If your in conus shipping is cheap. Call the mail number for Norco and ask for Allen. I know the others are more cash but not sure why and if its worth the e expense.

Don't flash the bios. Wipe it out then flash the firmware. Your system will boot in under a minute.

The bios and firmware is on the LSI support site and the LSI channel support site. No credentials are required and the release notes are included too.
There's also an option to sign up for a free channel support site which gives you access to submit support cases which are typically answered in about a day.
Download the firmware package and read the release notes. If you've got a IBM card the same information and firmware is open to the public. Compare the fw and bios. The release notes should tell you what will and won't work.
That's where the right versions are paired with corresponding bios.

I use the new firmware and skip the bios all together.
Is these a reason to use the bios for these controllers? The boot up time is way faster and the controller works fine without it.
Is there a reason to use the bios if you don't want to change settings on the controller? I use megacli if I want to tweak settings on the controller.

I used XBoot to find out the best option and then booted from USB. The cool thing about XBoot is you can use ROM Disk or USB and simulate boot up.

I can give you $70 shipped. Anything more than ground shipping which is about $11 US is on the buyer. So if shipping is $20 US I charge you the $9 more it takes to get to you.

The M1015s I'm selling are guaranteed to work or money back. You must return the card to get your cash but I will replace or refund you cash if there's a problem and the factory warranty that is good until 11/2014 doesnt cover your problem - Sean
Will this card work? Says its a LSI PCI Express ECL79747G
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=482338799
or I can get a BR10i for half the price
http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/servers/server-components/auction-480852354.htm
Seller clearly states it is a m1015 (in that link) so it is flashable. My 2 cents they want to much for something they have not tested and cannot guarantee if they will work.

Did you receive them yet?
I have more.

What version of firmware do you have on the card now? What version are you trying to flash to?
-
I use a Supermicro X9SCM and boot to the UEFI shelll and i can flash with sas2flash.efi everyone.
Anything else you need to do with megaoem/rec/cli works with a dos boot.
I think this holds true for any UEFI bios.
Are both flash roms required flashed during sas2flash step for the controller to operate normally?
Is it possible to flash the 2118IT image only. I did this and my server boots much faster and the drive work with unraid.

I'm asking a question that's been answered many times.
What is the most preferred utility to create boot usb drives for the purpose of flashing controllers and other devices?
-
Thanks pro stuff.
Is there anything special about down grading from r14 to r12?
-
What versions of unraid is everyone using that works with flashed lsi firmware?
I got the flash part of this thread. But there's so many variations I'm a little confused on the right version of unraid to use.
What version of unraid is optimal to run and with which lsi fw version?
Thanks.

Has anyone got the m1015 working on a version of unRAID?
-
I believe the zip file attached to this posting will have what you need.
Also the LSI channel support site has a package with the file you need available to public.

Is this a updated roadmap?

I see the flash procedure for the Intel RS2WC080 works. Will this work on the RS2Bl080 too?
This is much nicer (and different card - based on SAS2108 chip). It looks like the LSI 9260-8i, IBM M5015
The procedure will be similar but you may have to use different tools and firmware.
Some quick search:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/servers/raid/raid-controller-rs2bl.html
http://www.lsi.com/products/storagecomponents/Pages/MegaRAIDSAS9260-8i.aspx
I got a great deal on this card new, open box and 3 year warranty. I would like to use it. Are the drivers in the code?

Will unRAID recognize a hardware raid array volume for a Cache drive
in General Support (V5 and Older)

If I used 5 ssd drives and built a raid array can I use the array for my cache drive?
I can use a m1015 or motherboard controller to build the array
Anyone done this?
