xfs_repair: fatal error -- couldn't map inode <>, err = 117
phillipppp replied to phillipppp's topic in General Support
While still unresolved, I've got a thread going with the xfs distro. There may be more information there in case someone comes across a similar problem in the future and finds this topic. https://lkml.kernel.org/linux-xfs/CACf8WVuHtDoJS1x5XzvBV99Z6Gp7bqbwDT4QsKsJrETtyyvFTg@mail.gmail.com/ -

Okay thanks, was curious if rebuilding could be avoided. Fingers crossed it goes smooth. -

I was able to get an image of the drive and mounted in an Ubuntu box booted on a USB. UFS was able to identify all the files on the drive in the same structure as my shares. What’s the best way to replace the disk without rebuilding the back without carrying the bad filesystem? -

Is it normal to keep disk-level backups and not data/share-based backups? -

I first ran from the web ui with `-n` and once it reported issues, I re-ran without the `-n`. I can provide the full output if it would help but it is quite large. -

So, the only next steps are to wait for a newer version of unraid or restore the entire array from a backup? I was under the impression that, with my configuration, the array would be protected from loss of a single drive. I even keep a hot spare in the chassis for this. Are there no other options? -

Alright. I am on 6.12.6. Would there be any newer version? Should I replace the drive with a new one instead of formatting? -

Thanks @JorgeB . Unfortunately, I have tried multiple times all with the same result. Would formatting the drive and doing a rebuild return the array to normal operation? -
Had a power outage recently and had issues with Docker starting and killing all shares. After some looking around, I ran the `xfs_repair` on Disk 1 in my array and it reported issues. I re-ran without `-n` and cannot make it past the following: ... Phase 5 - rebuild AG headers and trees... - reset superblock... Phase 6 - check inode connectivity... - resetting contents of realtime bitmap and summary inodes - traversing filesystem ... rebuilding directory inode 12955326179 Metadata corruption detected at 0x46fa05, inode 0x38983bd88 dinode fatal error -- couldn't map inode 15192014216, err = 117 Starting the array outside maintenance mode now shows the disk with: Unmountable: Unsupported or no file system I am almost to the point of formatting the drive and rebuilding in place but want to check if there are any other options to try first. Diagnostics attached. tower-diagnostics-20231214-2011.zip

Okay, I did connect a monitor and I was running preclear in Screen, so I checked and it is still going. STILL, though, cannot connect. I attached the syslog now. There's alot of "No Space Left on Device" What is the cause of this? My flash drive being low on space? https://www.dropbox.com/s/qe2k4jeftx12vmd/syslog.txt

Hey guys, I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. The other day, I sat down at my workstation and realized that I could not access my server via web browser so I connected via Telnet and was able to function fine. I restarted the server and all was well. So I was installing a new drive and had a preclear running on the drive when it all lost connection. I can no longer load the web page or telnet in. I get a connection refused error when trying to connect. I can see all my shares fine via finder. I can't get to a syslog (at least, I don't know how). Anyone have suggestions? I'm mostly concerned with what's going on with the drive I was preclearing and what a safe course of action would be to restart the server. Thanks!

@henris thanks for the info! So far, I am still running the stock fans and CPU cooler. I have my box on a wire shelf in a fairly empty large closet in a spare room. It seems to get plenty of airflow and since it's out of the way, noise isn't a concern. It's interesting how many variances of this case seem to be out there. From the connectors on the back of the drive cage to the MB tray, it seems like there's a bit of inconsistency. I did have a bit of trouble with the I/O plate. Mine was that the back lip was bent upwards too much and did not allow the plate to snap in the groove. Once I flattened it out some, it popped right in. -

I like my aTV because I have an iPhone, iPad, MBP and they all work together. It's a good system together. But honestly, I would get the Roku just for reliable Plex support. This house has multiple iPhones, iPads, and the fiancée has a MBP also. Other than AirPlay, what can the aTV do that a Roku can't? Not bashing, it's a serious question. Curious if I'm missing something. I haven't done all the research on what the Roku is capable of (besides full support of the Plex app), but I also like the home sharing. Since when I'm home, my MBP is usually docked, I can stream my whole library to the aTV. But I guess my main commitment to the aTV is that I already bought it haha. -

There's a workaround for the SSL issue: http://langui.sh/2013/08/27/appletv-ssl-plexconnect/ and i made a plexconnect plugin in the plugins forum ... easy to upgrade versions of plexconnect If you want to help me out, that'd be great! I have not been able to get that to work at all! I've tried at least three or four times, starting from scratch each time. The main problem I have is trying to clear the ports in order to get it to work. -

I might have waited a bit to start the build just so I could take that picture I'm glad everyone is enjoying this build documentation! I really wanted to provide the best step-by-step I could. With school having started, I've got less time to really work on this. As of right now, I've got a 3TB parity and two 3TB data disks pre-cleared and have copied data from other drives onto the array. Currently pre-clearing a 1TB cache drive to move over CP,SB,SABnzbd, and Plex to. (Currently have those installed to a flash drive to get them going.) I'm really bummed about the new aTV update that ruined PlexConnect, so I don't have that yet (debating buying a Roku box...yes, I'm that desperate.) Haven't had any other real problems yet, just been a learning experience trying to get everything moving smoothly. -

thanks to @gary for all the info since I am by no means an expert! This is my first case and it's very much a learning experience so far! -

Where did you order from? sounds like you got a bad deal all around! The power supply probably would have gone in with the stickers if I put some more work into but it was much easier (and caused less damage) without them. The motherboard tray simply had 4 screws and came right out for me. -

correct, the board I bought has 5 SATA ports, so for anything over that, you'll need a sata expansion card. I haven't tried it yet but it'd be a tight fit.
