197 Current_Pending_Sector 0x0022 070 070 000 Old_age Always - 709
A good indicator that the drive is in the process of failing.

Export to excel, clipboard, copy functions.

Would it contribute to my array not starting? Should I be okay by adding simplefeatures back in without the email features?
No and Yes.

I use indexyourfiles on my Windows laptop.

Email Notifications specifically is causing your problem:

No problems. There was a an issue with the initial firmware that could cause data corruption. Any models built from 12/10-current had the updated firmware, although that was klutzed up as well...keeping the same firmware rev number. Many updated to the JP fw due to this. Upgrading if you have an older drive is simple, and not required if you have a drive built with a build date >= 12/10.

Not knowing more tools to troubleshoot, I wonder if the disk.cfg or super.dat somehow already has the 3TB serial number stored.
It would invalidate parity, but you could run the new configuration utility, and then add the drive. Take a screen shot of your current drive configuration.

I'll take the easy one. The latest v5 beta increases the max number of drives to 24.
-
What version # though?
The current version is 1.13. If you have an older version, please download the newest one. Older versions did not have the ability to properly handle larger disks. (larger than 2.2TB) -
also to check any processes preventing disks from unmounting.
To identify processes holding a disk busy you can type:
fuser -mv /mnt/disk* /mnt/user/*
To terminate processes holding a disk busy you can type (example is for disk1):
fuser -mvk /mnt/disk1
or you can individually terminate individual process IDs by typing
kill PID
(where PID = the numberic process ID as printed by the prior fuser -mv command)

Use telnet to shutdown clean

then
poweroff

No, not if it completed....but the call trace with the mvsas is not good.

I'm using this build mainly for network media sotrage, but I would like to be able to do some transacoding of SD/DVD videos via Serviio, run a bittorrent server, and and a few other menail tasks. Aside from dropping a bit more RAM in this box (I'm planning on 4GB already) should this build be sufficient?
Memory is cheap. Go with 8GB.

IIRC and from your syslog... you are using a mac ?
If so, follow this...<I only have a Windows Laptop so I don't know if this is accurate for your OS:>
http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Telnet-on-Mac-OS-X
This should get you to connect via terminal/telnet.
Once you've connected to your server...
enter the commands below <modifying sdX - where "X" is the correct disk identifier that you wish to run the smart test on:
This short test takes 1 to 3 minutes (remember to substitute your drive's identifier for 'sda' as described above)
smartctl -d ata -tshort /dev/sda
-
Why don't you post a smart test first?
-
What version of pre clear did you use?

Would this motherboard work.

Waaay overkill for unRAID. Most MB/CPUs will stream HD to multiple clients. Read rates are more than sufficient. Your network will play the biggest factor. If you are transcoding, get plenty of memory and a powerful CPU ie i3 or greater.
There is a link to HD streaming testing that was completed somewhere here...

Go with a Supermicro X9...check the PSU requirements though (SSI).
