I just got my unRAID 4.7 system setup and online and attempted to write to a user share from a Windows 7 64-bit PC. I encountered the same thing...the transfer would timeout after less than 20 seconds. I logged into the Admin interface and spun-up the drive and attempted to copy the file again...so far so good. I'm about 7gb transferred so far of the 14gb file. My unRAID is pretty "plain jane" right now...just a single 2TB hard drive, no parity drive yet. The 2TB is a Samsung F4. I applied the firmware update and pre-cleared it without any issues. I haven't tried a transfer from another OS yet (not sure I'm running anything other than Win7 64-bit). Is this simply an issue with the drive not spinning up? I don't mind having to manually spin the drive up for writes, but will the same thing happen when I try to read?

Thanks for the info...I was looking at a Corsair 650 watt modular, so it sounds like that would be plenty. I will definitely make sure to update the firmware on the f4s before running them. Glad they're nor going to go to waste =)

Going to be running a micro-atx tower with 2x120mm fans, 1x140mm fan, Intel Core i3-550 (using the integrated graphics), 2x2GB PC1600 memory, and a maximum of 6 Samsung F4 2TB 5400rpm drives. What would be a good wattage for this setup? Don't really want to go overkill and buy more than I need, but I want to make sure that I have enough for all 6 hard drives. Any suggestions? Thanks =)

Anyone have any experience, pros/cons for a GIGABYTE GA-H57M. I need to go with a micro-ATX design due to the location the server is being located. I was going to pair this with: GIGABYTE GA-H57M Intel Core i3-550 CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 LIAN LI PC-V354B Black Aluminum MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case and of course some Samsung F4 2TB hard drives. Anyone see any issue with this configuration or have suggestions for different components? Thanks =)
